Objective: This study aims to compare the therapeutic effects of conservative manual reduction therapy and open reduction therapy on pediatric forearm fracture. Methods: A total of 68 patients with pediatric forearm fracture were chosen in our hospital as participants from January 2015 to January 2016. The patients were divided into the observation group (open reduction therapy) and the control...
Fractures of trapezium are very rare accounting for about 0.4% of the hand’s injuries [1]. However, they should not be missed because inadequate treatment of trapezium fractures can lead to permanent impairment based on the substantial forces experienced at the trapeziometacarpal (TMC) joint in pinch and grip [2]. When present, often result of high energy trauma and occur in association with ot...
Open reduction and internal fixation using tension-band wires for displaced olecranon fractures enables restoration of extensor function. We report on 3 elderly patients with a displaced olecranon fracture who underwent open reduction and internal fixation using sutures as the Kirschner wire and tension-band wire and achieved good outcome.
The primary aim of this study is to determine maximum bite force in molar and incisor regions of healthy individuals, to evaluate the bite force after open reduction and internal fixation of mandibular fractures using micro plates, for a period of up to 6 weeks and to determine the rate of recovery of maximum bite force in an Indian population.
INTRODUCTION Humeral biepicondylar fracture dislocation is a very rare injury reported only once in English literature by G R Taylor et al. We report a case of humeral biepicondylar fracture dislocation in a 13-year-old girl with a unique mechanism of injury. CASE PRESENTATION A 13-year-old girl presented with trauma elbow. Radiographs showed biepicondylar fracture of humerus with dislocation...
To avoid misunderstanding, it is desirable to specify here a meaning of reduction which we shall not consider in the following. ’Reduction’ has been used (especially by logical positivists) to denote the claim that a scientific theory can be expressed entirely in terms of observation statements, or, weaker, that all theoretical terms of a theory can be so expressed. We make no such claims and s...
AIM To evaluate minimal fixation method with Kirschner's wires in the treatment of open fractures of the hand and foot short bones, caused by explosive devices. METHOD There were 270 wounded persons with open fractures of hand and foot short bones, who were surgically treated at the Department of Surgery at the Osijek University Hospital. The stabilization of an unstable open fracture was per...
Open tibia fractures are common injuries, particularly in developing countries.Pedestrian or bicycle to motor car contact is the most common mechanism. These injuries result in high morbidity and often long-term disability. HIV infection complicates open fractures by raising the incidence of infectionin the open wound (5 of 7 patients in our series). This risk may be compounded if internal fixa...
PURPOSE There is limited literature on nonoperative treatment of open type I pediatric fractures. Our purpose was to evaluate the rate of infection in pediatric patients with type I open fractures treated nonoperatively at our institution without admission from the emergency department (ED). METHODS We performed a retrospective chart review of all patients who sustained a type I open fracture...
