JEL Bibliographic Code O15, O18, O47, O53 We postulate that inferior factor productivity in China’s noncoastal provinces is a principal reason for their lower economic growth despite high investment rates relative to coastal provinces. Using the residual from a fixed-effect Solow growth model for the years 1978-93, we find that TFP is roughly twice as high in the coastal provinces. We estimate ...

This paper presents a framework for the construction of a residential real estate price index for Jamaica. This real estate price index will consist of a sales value-weighted aggregation of price sub-indices across geographical regions or zones. Colibacillosis, caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), is a significant disease, causing extensive animal and financial losses globally. Because of the significance of this disease, more knowledge is needed regarding APEC's mechanisms of virulence. Here, we present the fully closed genome sequence of a typical avian pathogenic E. coli strain belonging to the serogroup O78.

Escherichia coli RS218 is the prototypic strain of neonatal meningitis-causing E. coli (NMEC) and has been used in many studies related to NMEC pathogenesis. In the present study, the genome of E. coli RS218 was sequenced together with its plasmid, pRS218. Here, we report the fully closed genome sequence of E. coli RS218.

Laser interferometry is a measurement technique used in physical sciences, with a potential for new applications in microbiology. Our previously studies, focused on the quantitative analysis of antibiotics diffusion through membranes or their releasing from gel structure, indicate that this method might be useful in analysis of substances diffusion across the bacterial biofilms. As antibiotic -...

road traffic accident (rta) is a global burden of disease. more than 1.25 million people per year are killed by rtas. more than half of the fatalities strike vulnerable road users (e. g. pedestrians, skaters, cyclists and other non-protected road users). the ongoing challenge is to protect vulnerable road users (vru). as a vru is neither shielded by seatbelts or crumple zones nor by airbags, th...
