SiC-SiC composites offer excellent potential for fusion energy as well as numerous commercial applications. High manufacturing cost and very low through-the-thickness (transverse) thermal conductivity (below 15 W/mK) hinders wider applications of SiC/SiC composites. To overcome these obstacles, a low-cost, Chemical Vapor Reaction (CVR) process was developed to fabricate crystalline, high purity...
BACKGROUND Nitrate reductase (NR) in leaves is rapidly inactivated in the dark by a two-step mechanism in which phosphorylation of NR on the serine at position 543 (Ser543) promotes binding to nitrate reductase inhibitor protein (NIP). The eukaryotic 14-3-3 proteins bind to many mammalian signalling components (Raf-1, Bcr, phosphoinositide 3-kinase, protein kinase C, polyomavirus middle-T antig...
In this paper, the comparison of cyclic hysteresis behavior between cross-ply C/SiC and SiC/SiC ceramic-matrix composites (CMCs) has been investigated. The interface slip between fibers and the matrix existed in the matrix cracking mode 3 and mode 5, in which matrix cracking and interface debonding occurred in the 0° plies are considered as the major reason for hysteresis loops of cross-ply CMC...
Streptococcal inhibitor of complement (Sic) is a highly polymorphic extracellular protein made by serotype M1 group A Streptococcus strains that contributes to bacterial persistence in the mammalian upper respiratory tract. New variants of the Sic protein arise very rapidly by positive selection in human populations during M1 epidemics. The human antibody response to Sic was analyzed. Of 636 pe...
We develop the theory of generically stable types, independence relation based on nonforking and stable weight in the context of dependent (NIP) theories.

A novel composite photocatalyst was synthesized by loading 5 wt % of platinum cobalt alloy on 3C-SiC nanowires and powder (Pt-Co-SiC) respectively via a simple polyol reduction method. Pt-Co-SiC were comprehensively characterized by SEM, HRTEM, XRD, PL, and XPS. The results indicated that Pt-Co nanoparticles in the size of 2-5 nm were dispersed homogeneously in the SiC nanowires and powders. Th...
