The aim of this study is to prepare a model for the production of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) lentogenic F strain using cell culture in bioreactor for live attenuated vaccine preparation. In this study, firstly we investigated the growth of Vero cells in several culture media. The maximum cell number was yielded by culture of Vero cells in Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) which was 1.9...

Virulent strains of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) can cause devastating disease in chickens worldwide. Although the current vaccines are substantially effective, they do not completely prevent infection, virus shedding and disease. To produce genotype-matched vaccines, a full-genome reverse genetics system has been used to generate a recombinant virus in which the F protein cleavage site has be...

Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is promising antitumor agent that triggers immediate cytolysis of the tumor, apoptosis and activation immune system. This study was aimed at testing antiangiogenic NDV Performance on a model breast cancer. has been studied against mammalian adenocarcinoma AN3 transplanted into syngeneic immunocompetent mice through intratumoral injection to determine activity in vi...

background: newcastle disease is one of the most serious viral diseases in the poultry worldwide. objectives: since the traditional strategies have been hardly effective in controlling the disease, the purpose of this study was to introduce new methods for early and rapid diagnosis of newcastle. the present study helps to reduce further damage to the poultry industry. methods: rna extraction wa...

A convenient and gentle procedure was used for in vitro radioisotopic labeling the proteins of Newcastle disease virus. This method, which utilizes [14C]formaldehyde and sodium borohydride, labels all the proteins of purified Newcastle disease virus. Virions labeled in this manner retained biological and biopysical integrity

After publication of the article [1], it has been brought to our attention that Newcastle disease virus was incorrectly labeled as a Tier 1 USDA Select Agent. Newcastle disease virus is a USDA Select Agent but it is not a Tier 1 agent.

A rapid and precise method is described for determination of absolute numbers of hemagglutinating particles present in virus suspensions. The method involves spectrophotometric measurement of the number of red cells dimerized by the virus under conditions in which formation of larger aggregates is precluded. Results of this procedure are compared with those of titrations based on egg infectivit...

Newcastle disease virus (NDV) causes a devastating poultry disease worldwide. Frequent outbreaks of NDV in chickens vaccinated with conventional live vaccines suggest a need to develop new vaccines that are genetically matched against circulating NDV strains, such as the genotype V virulent strains currently circulating in Mexico and Central America. In this study, a reverse genetics system was...

A serological survey was conducted to determine the prevalence of antibodies to Newcastle disease virus in apparently healthy and unvaccinated adult indigenous chickens. Haemagglutination inhibiting antibodies to Newcastle disease virus were found in the sera of 51 out of 89 (57.3%) chickens sampled.

The genome of a Newcastle disease virus isolated from a Japanese quail in 2003 is reported here. The genome is 15,192 nucleotides (nt) long, as found in the recent genotypes, and grouped as genotype VIIb, with a 6-nt insertion. This is the first report on the sequence of a genotype VII Newcastle disease virus (NDV) from India.
