Based on a description of the squares of cofinite primary ideals of A + α (D), we prove the following results: for α ≥ 1, there exists a derivation from A + α (D) into a finite-dimensional module such that this derivation is unbounded on every dense subalgebra; for m ∈ N and α ∈ [m, m + 1), every finite-dimensional extension of A + α (D) splits algebraically if and only if α ≥ m + 1/2.

In this paper, we introduce the notions of $(odot, oplus)$-derivations and $(ominus, odot)$-derivations for $MV$-algebras and discuss some related results. We study the connection between these derivations on an $MV$-algebra $A$ and the derivations on its boolean center. In this paper we derive the quasigeostrophic potential vorticity equations, starting from primitive type equations, as the Rossby number goes to zero, and prove the convergence as long as the limit system has strong enough solutions. We in particular take account of the boundary layers and investigate the existence of global weak solutions of the limit system with physical boundary conditions.
