Abstract Background Tristetraprolin (TTP) family proteins contain conserved tandem CCCH zinc-finger binding to AU-rich elements and C-terminal NOT1-binding domain. TTP is phosphorylated extensively in cells, its mRNA destabilization activity regulated by protein phosphorylation. Methods We generated an antibody against phospho-Serine316 located at the site examined phosphorylation LPS-stimulate...
In this study, we introduce the fabrication process of a highly efficient fully printed all-carbon organic thermoelectric generator (OTEG) free metallic junctions with outstanding flexibility and exceptional power output, which can be conveniently rapidly prepared through ink dispensing/printing processes aqueous low-cost CNT inks mask-assisted specified circuit architecture. The optimal p-type...
Active specific immunotherapy has been implemented in patients with advanced malignant melanoma, utilizing the mouse antiidiotypic (anti-id) monoclonal antibody (mAb) MK2-23 which bears the internal image of high molecular weight-melanoma associated antigen (HMW-MAA). In a previous study, development of anti-HMW-MAA immunity in patients with advanced malignant melanoma immunized with anti-id mA...
Checkpoints are the sentinels of cell-cycle progression. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Yaffe and colleagues (Reinhardt et al., 2010) show that spatial and temporal resolution of Chk1 and MK2, checkpoint kinases with identical substrate specificity, are necessary to signal different aspects of DNA damage signaling.
(+)-Makassaric acid (1) and (+)-subersic acid (2), new meroterpenoid inhibitors of the protein kinase MK2, have been isolated from the marine sponge Acanthodendrilla sp. collected in Indonesia. The structures of (+)-makassaric acid (1) and (+)-subersic acid (2) were determined by spectroscopic analysis.
Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is associated with acute respiratory tract disease especially in young children. Using a quantitative real-time TaqMan PCR, we analyzed the replication kinetics of hMPV in different cell lines. Our results indicate that hMPV replicates slightly more efficiently in LLC-MK2 than in Vero cells and poorly in HEp-2 cells.
The DNA damage response activates several pathways that stall the cell cycle and allow DNA repair. These consist of the well-characterized ATR (Ataxia telangiectasia and Rad-3 related)/CHK1 and ATM (Ataxia telangiectasia mutated)/CHK2 pathways in addition to a newly identified ATM/ATR/p38MAPK/MK2 checkpoint. Crucial to maintaining the integrity of the genome is the S-phase checkpoint that funct...
CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBPalpha), a basic leucine zipper transcription factor, is involved in mitotic growth arrest and differentiation. Given that numerous proteins involved in cell cycle regulation are degraded via the ubiquitin-proteasome system, we examined whether the C/EBPalpha protein is degraded via a proteasomal mechanism. In cycloheximide-treated BALB/MK2 keratinocyte...
A sensitive, quantitative and reproducible plaque assay for the measurement of the simian rotavirus SAII is described. Plaque formation required the presence of the facilitators pancreatin or trypsin and diethylaminoethyl-dextran in the agar overlay. SAII produced plaques in three continuous primate cell lines: MA-104, CV-1 and LLC-MK2. MA-104 cells were the most sensitive.
The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) play an imporp38i-stimulated group, SB202190 enhanced ERK/RSK-mediated TSC2 tant role in the regulation of cell proliferation and survival, in response to various environmental cues, e.g., oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokines (Cuenda and Rousseau, 2007). p38 MAPK activity is elevated in types of cancer, including colorectal cancer (CRC) (G...
