A new nano-sized lead(II) coordination polymer, [Pb(2-bpdh)(NO3)2]n (1); (2-bpdh = 2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)-3,4-diaza-2,4-hexadiene)}, was synthesized by a sonochemical method. The structure of 1 may be considered coordination polymer of lead(II) consist of metallocyclicchains formed by bridging NO3- and 2-bpdh l...

Engineering tissues utilizing biodegradable polymer matrices is a promising approach to the treatment of a number of diseases. However, processing techniques utilized to fabricate these matrices typically involve organic solvents and/or high temperatures. Here we describe a process for fabricating matrices without the use of organic solvents and/or elevated temperatures. Disks comprised of poly...

Float fraction of float/sink process of car shredder light fraction was received from RAV (The Netherlands) in the frame of the W2Plastics (http://www.w2plastics.eu/) EU7 project (magnetic sorting and ultrasound sensor technologies for production of high purity secondary polyolefins from waste). The differently coloured plastic waste particles were manually separated and after determining the m...

In the coal preparation plant, the run of mine coal undergoes a series of operations, including washing, wet screening, sedimentation and dewatering. The process requires the circulation of large volumes of water from which large volumes of waste water containing a variety of solid particles are generated. Clarification of the tailing water is often carried out in a thickener by adding suitable...

Antihydrogen, a positron bound to an antiproton, is the simplest antiatom. Its counterpart-hydrogen--is one of the most precisely investigated and best understood systems in physics research. High-resolution comparisons of both systems provide sensitive tests of CPT symmetry, which is the most fundamental symmetry in the Standard Model of elementary particle physics. Any measured difference wou...

Polymer microparticles with unique, decodable identities are versatile information carriers with a small footprint. Widespread incorporation into industrial processes, however, is limited by a trade-off between encoding density, scalability and decoding robustness in diverse physicochemical environments. Here, we report an encoding strategy that combines spatial patterning with rare-earth upcon...

A facile method for preparing highly monodisperse, sub-micrometre conjugated polymer particles is reported. The particles are prepared through emulsification of a conjugated polymer solution on a microfluidic chip followed by solvent evaporation. The particle size is tuned between 150 nm to 2 μm, by controlling the polymer concentration.

Application of gravity and magnetic separation methods to upgrade low grade Manganese ores from Venaj Mine has been reported elsewhere. This paper discusses the results of flotation tests, as well as combination of flotation and magnetic method to concentrate fine particles (less than 150 microns) of manganese ore. Results obtained from various direct and reverse flotation tests, using differen...

The microphase separation of hydrated perfluorinated sulfonic acid membrane Nafion was investigated using Dissipative Particle Dynamics (DPD). The nafion as a polymer was modelled by connecting coarse grained beads which corresponds to the hydrophobic backbone of polytetrafluoroethylene and perfluorinated side chains terminated by hydrophilic end particles of sulfonic acid groups [1, 2]. Each f...
