Abstruct-This paper addresses the issue of the existence of causal linear phase IIR digital filters. The conditions for their existence are derived, and a set of examples satisfying these conditions is given. Specifically, the sequences must be integer samples of a continuous-time function, band-limited to ( n, n), which is symmetric and has zero crossings at the negative integers. Also, the po...

This paper shows how to compute, for probabilistic hybrid systems, the clock approximation and linear phase-portrait approximation that have been proposed for non probabilistic processes by Henzinger et al. The techniques permit to define a rectangular probabilistic process from a non rectangular one, hence allowing the model-checking of any class of systems. Clock approximation, which applies ...

The practical implementation of the infinite-dimensional optimal estimation results presented in Part I of this series is considered. Several techniques are described in detail. Included among these is the so-called “assumed density” approximation technique. Finite-dimensional suboptimal filtering equations based on this method are derived for several of the phase-tracking/demodulation problems...

An alternative proof is presented for the necessary conditions for generalized linear phase in causal FIR systems, which appears to be somewhat crisper and more straightforward than the existing proofs available in the literature.

A novel phase modulation system based on an alloptical approach for integrated interferometric devices is presented. This method provides real-time linear phase read-out for highly sensitive, label-free and user-friendly biosensing applications oriented to a Lab-on-Chip final implementation.

We describe a framework for the design of directional derivative kernels for two-dimensional discrete signals in which we optimize a measure of rotation-equivariance in the Fourier domain. The formulation is applicable to rst-order and higher-order derivatives. We design a set of compact, separable, linear-phase derivative kernels of di erent orders and demonstrate their accuracy.

In this work we consider the problem of output regulation for linear single input-single output systems in presence of time-varying measurement constraint. It is shown how an internal model-based regulator, processing a saturated uncertain function of the regulated error, can be designed in order to secure asymptotic tracking/rejection of exosystemgenerated references/disturbances. The design i...
