Dissimilar metals have found wide use in electric power generation, electronics, reactors, nuclear, petrochemical, chemical industries, civil construction, vessels, and heat exchange as well several other industries. TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas Welding) is a type of that uses tungsten the electrode material not consumed. Brazing way joining metal materials through heating process with an ad...

The ballast water treatment method consists of bubbling the inert gas via a row of pipes (orifices at the bottom of the pipes) located at the bottom of the tank, while maintaining a negative pressures of -2 psi at the ullage space. The inert gas from a standard shipboard inert gas generator is composed of 84% Nitrogen, 12-14% CO2 and 2% Oxygen. The ballast water will be equilibrated with gas fr...

EDF Energy has the requirement to detect and size lack of penetration type defects in thin-walled stainless steel components. A high frequency ultrasonic phased array inspection technique has been successfully developed and applied to thin walled pipes and is currently used as an ENIQ qualified inspection on nuclear plant. The welds are manufactured with an autogenous Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) w...

Welds made with 304 austenitic stainless steel play an important role in high-pressure hydrogen storage systems. However, there are few investigations of the effect heat input on embrittlement (HE) tungsten inert gas (TIG) welded steel. In this study, HE TIG is investigated. It was found that increase welding input, ferrite content weld shows a tendency to first and then decrease. From perspect...

Robot automation systems are rapidly taking the place of the human work force. One of the benefits is that this change provides the human work force with the time to spend on more creative tasks. The highest population of robots is in spot welding, spray painting, material handling, and arc welding. Spot welding and spray painting applications are mostly in the automotive industry. However, arc...

Acetylene gas welding of district heating pipes can result in exposure to high concentrations of carbon monoxide. A fatal case due to intoxication is described. Measurements of carbon monoxide revealed high levels when gas welding a pipe with closed ends. This fatality and these measurements highlight a new hazard, which must be promptly prevented.

OBJECTIVES Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) emitted during arc welding frequently causes keratoconjunctivitis and erythema in the workplace. The degree of hazard from UVR exposure depends on the welding method and conditions. Therefore, it is important to identify the UVR levels present under various conditions. METHODS We experimentally evaluated the UVR levels emitted in gas metal arc welding (G...

Installation of new pipelines is predicted to grow at a rapid rate over the next twenty years, due in part to the increase use worldwide of combined cycle power generation plant using natural gas a fuel. The need to construct large diameter pipelines over long distances has led to an increased demand to improve the productivity of pipeline girth welding. Many novel techniques have been tried in...

Abstract Iron-based shape memory alloys have recently attracted increased attention due to their low material costs combined with good workability and high transformation strains. They show excellent welding properties, as shown by several studies compared non-iron-based alloys, are potential candidate materials for large-scale application damping elements in building structures. Since subseque...
