Recent work at Clemson University has provided 32 new data sets of ammonia volatilization losses during sprinkler irrigation of liquid manure. These 32 observations were pooled with 23 additional data sets that were available in the literature. The combined data includes losses from traveling gun, center pivot, and impact sprinkler irrigation of dairy, swine, and beef manure. Manure type did no...

daho has approximately 4 million acres of irrigated agricultural land. Most of it is in pasture and hay crops, grain crops, potatoes, and sugar beets, in hierarchical order. Table 1 shows the number of irrigated acres in the state by crop for 1994. Nearly all of this land is irrigated by either sprinklers (59 percent) or surface irrigation systems (40 percent), with only a very small amount (le...

Two cases of orbital injuries caused by the jet of water from an irrigation sprinkler are described; they were of a type not previously reported. The jet of water, possessing high kinetic energy, stretched the orbital tissues and resulted in a rupture which followed the anatomical seams. Thus there was no bleeding, but oedema was present. The eyeball was also injured.

to illustrate the impact of various levels of deficit irrigation on yield and yield components of maize cultivars, a study was conducted based on randomized complete blocks as a split plot design with 3 replicates and two treatments for three crop seasons. four levels of deficit irrigation including: conventional, 100, 80, and 60% of water level use were considered as main plots and two varieti...

In this study, the optimum irrigation depths for corn grain production under different conditions, i.e. maximum grain yield production and maximum benefit under limited land and water conditions, were determined under sprinkler irrigation in Bajgah (15 km. north of Shiraz). The results showed that, the optimum depth of irrigation for maximum grain yield production was 77.0 cm. Because of low pr...
