We describe the methodology and current features for ML2000, a new-generation design of ML. ML2000 adds a number of features to Standard ML and Caml, providing better support for extensibility and code reuse, while also fixing latent problems. Although none of the features is particularly novel on its own, the combination of features and design methodology are.

Various languages have tried to allow useful tools and solutions to concurrent programming, Alice ML is one of these. Alice ML uses futures and promises to help solve the problem of data synchronisa-tion and concurrency. This report explains how these features work, displays a detailed example, performs comparisons to other language solutions and presents related work in this area.

An overview of past, present and future work on the Extended ML formal program development framework is given, with emphasis on two topics of current active research: the semantics of the Extended ML speciication language, and tools to support formal program development.

This paper explores connections between object-oriented programming and Standard ML. In particular we show that F-bounded polymorphism can be expressed using ML's polymorphism and a programming technique we call wrapping. The encoding of F-bounded polymorphism can be used to encode classes as ML modules.
