Localized or regional necrotizing lymphadenitis is an extremely uncommon manifestation of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. We report a case of necrotizing HSV lymphadenitis in a patient with both common variable immunodeficiency and natural killer cell deficiency and review the literature on this unusual complication of HSV infection.
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD), also known as Kikuchi’s or histiocytic necrotising lymphadenitis, is a rare and benign medical condition of unknown aetiology. It often misdiagnosed lymphoma systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), leading to inappropriate investigations delayed treatment. thus important for clinicians be cognizant this when assessing patients with cervical lymphadenopathy.
Background: Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is an enigmatic, benign and self-limited syndrome characterized by regional lymphadenopathy with tenderness, usually accompanied by mild fever and night sweats. Patient: A 17 years old girl admitted in infectious diseases ward with chief complaint of fever and cervical lymphadenopathy since one week ago. Her problems started with fever and pharyngitis....
BACKGROUND Accurate staging is critical for decision-making for the treatment of malignant conditions. Fluoro-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography (FDG PET-CT) is a highly sensitive imaging modality for the assessment of distant metastases; however false positive results are possible due to its lower specificity with detection of other hypermetabolic pathologies. CAS...
Kikuchi Fujimoto Disease (KFD) or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis can present with unexplained fever and lymphadenopathy. It is often mistaken for more serious conditions like malignant lymphoma or tuberculosis. First case was described by Kikuchi in Japan, very few cases have been reported in Pakistan. A middle aged female presented with fever and body aches for one month. She was invest...
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis of unknown etiopathogenesis, is a self-limited disease which frequently appears as feverish lymphadenomegaly, thus creating the need for differential diagnosis with lymphoma, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), infectious mononucleosis, cat-scratch disease, and toxoplasmosis with lymphonodal impairment. However, there...
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD), also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is an uncommon condition, typically characterized by lymphadenopathy and fevers. It usually has a benign course; however, it may progress to fatality in extremely rare occasions. The diagnosis is made via lymph node biopsy and histopathology. Our patient was a young female who presented with shortness of breath...
Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is an extremely rare disease with a worldwide distribution and higher prevalence in Asians. It is a benign and self-limiting disorder, characterized by regional cervical lymphadenopathy accompanied with mild fever and night sweats. Lymph node histopathology is diagnostic and treating physicians should be aware of this entity as it may mimic other systemic diseases...
Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, Kikuchi-Fujimoto's Disease (KFD), is a condition rarely associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The diagnosis of KFD can precede, postdate or coincide with the diagnosis of SLE. Lymphadenopathy is a common clinical presentation of KFD and SLE, and is histologically indistinguishable in both conditions. We describe two cases of KFD associated wi...
Persistent cervical and axillary lymphadenopathy is a common occurrence encountered in clinics across Asian countries. The commonest presentation in young population is secondary to infections of which extrapulmonary tuberculosis tops the list. Occasionally, one encounters neoplastic lesions such as lymphomas.1 In adults, these aberrant swelling warrant exclusion of metastatic malignant disease...
