Excessive flexion and internal rotation of the hip is a common gait abnormality among individuals with cerebral palsy. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of hip flexion on the rotational moment arms of the hip muscles. We hypothesized that flexion of the hip would increase internal rotation moment arms and decrease external rotation moment arms of the primary hip rotators. T...

It is shown that every quantum principal bundle with a compact structure group is a Hopf-Galois extension. This property naturally extends to the level of general differential structures, so that every differential calculus over a quantum principal bundle with a compact structure group is a graded-differential variant of the Hopf-Galois extension.

1.1. Let g be a complex semisimple Lie algebra; let Mod(g) be the category of finite dimensional representations of g. In the paper [D] Drinfeld introduced a remarkable structure of a braided tensor category on Mod(g). In fact, the tensor product is the usual one but the commutativity and associativity isomorphisms are deformed; they depend on a ”quantization” parameter h (a sufficiently small ...

subject to the constraint that q(0) and q(h) are constant. Standard ODE theory provides existence and uniqueness of the corresponding initial value problem because the derivatives q~(t) of the evolution curves q(t) are the integral curves of the corresponding Lagrangian vector field XE. Given two nearby ql, q2 6 Q, does there exist a unique evolution curve q(t) such that q(0) = q~ and q(h) = q2...

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of loop groupoid LG associated to a groupoid G. After studying the general properties of LG, we show how this notion provides a very natural geometric interpretation for the twisted sectors of an orbifold [7], and for the inner local systems introduced by Ruan [14] by means of a natural generalization of the concept holonomy of a gerbe.

In the presence of inhomogeneities the propagation of elastic wave energy can be modeled by radiative transport equations. This is a good approximation when (i) typical wavelengths are short compared to the overall propagation distance, (ii) correlation lengths are comparable to wavelengths so that the inhomogeneities have appreciable effect and (iii) the fluctuations are weak. The relevant tra...

We explored the extent to which biological motion perception depends on ventral stream integration by studying LG, an unusual case of developmental visual agnosia. LG has significant ventral stream processing deficits but no discernable structural cortical abnormality. LG's intermediate visual areas and object-sensitive regions exhibit abnormal activation during visual object perception, in con...

We conjecture an exact formula for the Kontsevich integral of the unknot, and also conjecture a formula (also conjectured independently by Deligne [De]) for the relation between the two natural products on the space of Chinese characters. The two formulas use the related notions of “Wheels” and “Wheeling”. We prove these formulas ‘on the level of Lie algebras’ using standard techniques from the...

An introduction to inhomogeneous Poisson groups is given. Poisson inhomogeneous O(p, q) are shown to be coboundary, the generalized classical Yang-Baxter equation having only one-dimensional right hand side. Normal forms of the classical r-matrices for the Poincaré group (inhomogeneous O(1, 3)) are calculated.
