In this work we compare the nuclear modification factors in proton (deuteron) – nucleus collisions at CERN SPS, FNAL and RHIC energies in a wide pT range. In these experiments the nuclear modification factor has shown an enhancement at pT ≈ 4 GeV/c. The height of this “Cronin peak” depends on the c.m. energy of the collision, as it is subject to stronger shadowing at higher energies. One of the...

The PEP-N experiment is proposed to study e+e− collisions occurring between the LER (SLAC Low Energy Ring) positrons, which have a fixed energy of 3.12 GeV, and the electrons stored in the VLER (Very Low Energy Ring) with energy variable in the range 0.2 GeV to 0.8 GeV, which correspond to center of mass energies from about 1.5 GeV to 3.1 GeV. Because of this, the e+e− center of mass (CM) syste...

We develop an 0(18) theory of family unification consistent with all established phenomenology and cosmology. The theory makes firm predictions that will be tested soon. It implies that five new families live below 265 GeV. One of the new families is left-handed, and the other four are right-handed. The new left-handed family is lighter than its right-handed counterparts. The lightest right-han...

The charge radii of Σ and π have been determined by direct elastic scattering on shell electrons. The measurement was performed in the framework of the Selex (E781) charm hadroproduction experiment at Fermilab which employs a 600 GeV/c high-intensity Σ/π beam and a three-stage magnetic spectrometer covering 0.1 ≤ xF ≤ 1.0. Scattering angles and momenta of both hadron and electron were measured ...

The Brookhaven Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) has been providing collisions of polarized protons at a beam energy of 100 GeV since 2001. Equipped with two full Siberian snakes in each ring, polarization is preserved during acceleration from injection to 100 GeV. However, the intrinsic spin resonances beyond 100 GeV are about a factor of 2 stronger than those below 100 GeV making it impo...

Because of their Yukawa interactions, third generation squarks may be substantially lighter than those of the first two generations. Assuming that b̃1 → bZ̃1 and Z̃1 escapes experimental detection, we show that experiments at the Main Injector upgrade (integrated luminosity of 2 fb−1) of the Tevatron should be sensitive to b-squark masses up to 210 GeV for m Z̃1 ≤ 120 GeV. For integrated luminositi...

The electron-proton collider HERA at DESY opened the door for the study of diffraction in real and virtual photon-proton scattering at center-of-mass energies W up to 250 GeV and for large negative mass squared −Q2 of the virtual photon up to Q = 1600 GeV. At W = 220 GeV and Q = 4 GeV, diffraction accounts for about 15% of the total virtual photon proton cross section decreasing to ≈ 5% at Q = ...

Recent results obtained by the CDF and DØ collaborations are presented here. These Tevatron Higgs searches look for a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson decaying into W-boson pairs, with the W-bosons decaying into electron-neutrino or muon neutrino final states. In the mass range of 135 GeV/c to 200 GeV/c, the SM Higgs decays prominently into W-boson pairs. The presented results are based on an in...

We have measured the branching fraction and photon energy spectrum for the radiative penguin process b → sγ. We find B(b → sγ) = (3.21 ± 0.43 ± 0.27 −0.10) × 10 , where the errors are statistical, systematic, and from theory corrections. We obtain first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum above 2.0 GeV, 〈Eγ〉 = 2.346± 0.032± 0.011 GeV, and 〈E γ〉−〈Eγ〉 2 = 0.0226±0.0066±0.0020 GeV, wh...

The high-intensity proton accelerator facility in Japan comprising a 600-MeV linac, a 3-GeV rapid-cycling synchrotron, and a 50-GeV synchrotron, has been officially approved for the construction of its Phase I. The Phase I includes the 1-MW pulsed spallation neutron source, but the 50-GeV ring can be operated up to only 30 GeV. The linac energy is limited to 400 MeV, which is not high enough fo...
