Abstract. We present an analysis of the publication and citation networks of all previous editions of the three conferences most relevant to the FCA community: ICFCA, ICCS and CLA. Using data mining methods from FCA and graph analysis, we investigate patterns and communities among authors, we identify and visualize influential publications and authors, and we give a statistical summary of the c...
Median networks have been proposed as an improvement over trees in phylogenetic analysis. This paper argues that concept lattices represent essentially the same information as median networks but with the advantage that there is a larger FCA research community and a variety of available software tools. Therefore evolutionary analysis is an interesting new application domain for FCA.
In this paper, we discuss the implications of phenomenon first conjunct clitic doubling (FC CLD), based on data from Modern Greek. We recap arguments in Paparounas & Salzmann (to appear), where it is argued that FC CLD provides evidence for Agree-based approaches to (CLD) and against involving movement, which would incorrectly rule out as a violation Coordinate Structure Constraint. Ext...
The conceptual hierarchy represented in a concept lattice always refers to a formal context, that is, to a fixed section of data. In practice, there may be different choices for such an excerpt, for different reasons. The data may contain errors or omissions, it may differ from one observer to another. There are approaches that address such problems, building on notions like fuzziness, partiali...
Most of the clustering algorithms utilize two techniques which are selecting cluster-heads with more residual energy and rotating cluster-heads periodically to balance energy consumption of the sensor nodes over the network . These clustering algorithms do not take the location of the base station into consideration. This lack of consideration causes the hot spots problem in multi-hop wireless ...
Roget’s Thesaurus is a semantic dictionary that is organized by concepts rather than words. It has an elaborate implicit structure that has not, in the 150 years since its inception, been made explicit. Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is a tool that can be used by researchers for the organization, analysis and visualization of complex hidden structures. In this paper we illustrate two ways in whi...
1. This paper summarises the issues and ideas raised by participants in our roundtables. These points do not necessarily reflect the views of the FCA, but participants in the events. They are one source of evidence that the FCA may use to inform its views. We are now considering the issues raised further with a view to identifying opportunities for increasing access to alternatives and make rec...
In this paper, we present a method based on Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) for mining numerical data. An adaptation of standard FCA Galois connection takes into account “similarity” between numerical values of attributes and leads to the definition of many-valued (MV) formal concepts and concept lattices. Depending on a similarity threshold, many-valued concept lattices have different levels of ...
Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is a theory whose goal is to discover and to extract Knowledge from qualitative data. It provides tools for reasoning with implication basis (and association rules). In this paper we analyse how to apply FCA reasoning to increase confidence in sports betting, by means of detecting temporal regularities from data. It is applied to build a Knowledge based system for ...
