Current commercial battery management systems (BMSs) do not provide adequate information in real time to mitigate issues of battery cells such as thermal runway. This paper explores and evaluates the integration of fiber optic Bragg grating (FBG) sensors inside lithium-ion battery (LiB) coin cells. Strain and internal and external temperatures were recorded using FBG sensors, and the battery ce...
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) level and Waist Circumference (WC) in men and women among 25-65 years old people in the north of Iran. MATERIAL AND METHODS This was a cross-sectional and analytical research gender that carried out on the 1797 subjects (941 males and 856 females) between 25-65 years old using multistage clust...
A spectral-hole created by locally pressing a fibre Bragg grating (FBG)s exhibited a wavelength-shift within the FBG bandwidth. A sensitivity of 74.3 pm/(N/mm) was obtained for pressure applied along the slow axis of a high birefringence fibre. ©2006 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (060.2370) Fiber optics sensors; (060.2420) Fibers, polarization-maintaining
Using point-by-point femtosecond laser inscription, a fibre Bragg grating (FBG) was written in a high NA germania-doped fibre. Thermal tests demonstrated that the FBG could withstand temperatures up to 800°C without significant effects on reflectivity. OCIS codes: (060.3735) Fibre Bragg gratings; (320.2250) Femtosecond phenomena
Chirped fiber Bragg grating (FBG) provides an attractive solution for low cost dispersion compensation in a fiber optic transmission system. The present work carries out the design optimization of a chirped FBG in respect of chirp bandwidth and apodisation profile in achieving optimum dispersion compensation in a 40Gbps optical transmission link for different modulation formats.
Objectives. The study aimed to assess the relationship between body fat and each of body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC), and to test the effectiveness of fat mass (FM), percent of body fat (PBF), BMI, and WC in predicting high levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG). Methods. A total of 167 adolescents aged 11-17 years were recruited from Rabat region. BMI and WC were determined us...
Cinnamon, the dry bark and twig of Cinnamomum spp., is a rich botanical source of polyphenolics that has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine and has been shown to affect blood glucose and insulin signaling. Cinnamon's effects on blood glucose have been the subject of many clinical and animal studies; however, the issue of cinnamon intake's effect on fasting blood glucose (FBG) in people...
BACKGROUND Evidence consistently shows that diabetes is a risk factor for increased prevalence of gingivitis and periodontitis. But there is a controversy about the relationship between diabetes related factors and periodontal health. The aim of the present study is to explore the relationship between diabetes related factors such as glycosylated hemoglobin, fasting blood glucose, duration of d...
The aim of the present study was to examine changes of sera levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-10 (IL-10), phospholipase A2 (PLA2) and fibrinogen β polypeptide chain gene (Fbg) in patients with traumatic fracture of lower limb, and to evaluate their association with prognosis. The changes in sera levels of CRP, IL-10, PLA2 and Fbg were observed at the time of injury, 24 h, and 5 an...
Hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress has been concerned in the development of diabetic nephropathy (DN), which may cause kidney damage associated with inflammation and fibrosis. This study has been conducted to investigate the role of genistein supplementation in an acute DN state. Mice with FBG levels more than 250 mg/dL after alloxan injection (single i.p., 150 mg/kg) were considered as dia...
