Eye movements were used as a criterion of observing responses in a vigilance task. Time on watch and signal rates similarly affected both eye-movement rates and percentage of detections. Observing rate may account for detection data, and may be a more stable measure of vigilance than detection rate is, especially when very few signals occur.

Eye detection is a necessary processing step for many face recognition algorithms. For some of these algorithms, the eye coordinates are required for proper geometric normalization before recognition. For others, the eyes serve as reference points to locate other significant features on the face, such as the nose and mouth. The eyes, containing significant discriminative information, can even b...

Introduction “Blink” is defined as closing and opening of the eyes in a small duration of time. In this study, we aimed to introduce a fast, robust, vision-based approach for blink detection. Materials and Methods This approach consists of two steps. In the first step, the subject’s face is localized every second and with the first blink, the system detects the eye’s location and creates an ope...

Ocular artifact, namely eye-blink is an inevitable and one of the most destructive noises EEG signals. Many solutions detecting artifact were proposed. Different subsets features Machine Learning (ML) classifiers used for this purpose. But no comprehensive comparison these ML was presented. This paper presents twelve five classifiers, commonly in existing studies detection artifacts. An dataset...

We have recently developed a real time automatic access control system using both face and voice identification. We show that combining these two modalities achieves high recognition accuracy, especially in difficult recognition scenarios. Our system also supports online training of the user models, i.e, a person who has not been registered in the database can be added on the spot in real time....

BACKGROUND Diagnosis of traumatic optic neuropathy is difficult during primary care as a result of the absence of optic disk changes or coexisting injuries that may be more apparent. Although there are functional signs that suggest its presence, the lack of a comparison parameter may further prevent its detection. A case of bilateral traumatic optic neuropathy is analyzed to emphasize the need ...

Like most other spiders Cupiennius salei (Keyserling 1877) has two different eye types, one pair of principal eyes and three pairs of secondary eyes. The principal eyes have two eye muscles each, which allow movement of the retina and are mainly used for the discrimination of stationary objects. The secondary eyes without such eye muscles are supposed to detect moving objects. Masking experimen...

Fast and robust pupil detection is an essential prerequisite for video-based eye-tracking in real-world settings. Several algorithms for image-based pupil detection have been proposed, their applicability is mostly limited to laboratory conditions. In realworld scenarios, automated pupil detection has to face various challenges, such as illumination changes, reflections (on glasses), make-up, n...

This paper presents comparison of two image processing algorithms used for eye blink detection. The motivation of this research work is the need of disabled persons who are unable to move their body parts except eyes. The process of blink detection is divided into three parts viz.face localization, eye pair localization and template matching method. In method 1, YCbCr color model and morphologi...

In this paper, we propose a novel mechanism for enriching the feature vector, for the task of sarcasm detection, with cognitive features extracted from eye-movement patterns of human readers. Sarcasm detection has been a challenging research problem, and its importance for NLP applications such as review summarization, dialog systems and sentiment analysis is well recognized. Sarcasm can often ...
