Skin wound healing is a complex and dynamic process that aims to restore lesioned tissues. Collagen-based skin substitutes are promising treatment promote by mimicking the native structure. Recently, collagen from marine organisms has gained interest as source for producing biomaterials regenerative strategies. This preliminary study aimed describe application of collagen-based skin-like scaffo...

PURPOSE To evaluate epithelial healing and visual outcome after laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy (LASEK) without alcohol de-epithelialization and to compare this technique to photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) in myopia. METHODS In a series of 1953 patients undergoing bilateral myopic PRK, an epithelial flap could be obtained by manual de-epithelialization in the left eye of 56 patient...

BACKGROUND During somitogenesis, segmental patterns of gene activity provide the instructions by which mesenchymal cells epithelialize and form somites. Various members of the Eph family of transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinases and their Ephrin ligands are expressed in a segmental pattern in the rostral presomitic mesoderm. This pattern establishes a receptor/ligand interface at each site of ...

BACKGROUND The present study was designed to evaluate the potential of isoquercetin-based cream formulation on scald burn wound injury in rats. METHODS Four isoquercetin-based cream formulations viz. 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, and 0.06 % w/w were prepared. Cream base and standard anti-burn cream containing silver sulfadiazine were also used for comparison. Scald burn was given to rats by pouring water...

We report the histopathology of epithelial overgrowth in the Boston type I keratoprosthesis. The epithelium shows an inconsistent number of layers and basement membrane and goblet cells are absent. Epithelialization of the keratoprosthesis optic would have multiple advantages, but the limitation of vision makes tolerating the overgrowth difficult.

BACKGROUND Sheng-ji Hua-yu(SJHY) formula is one of the most useful Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of the delayed diabetic wound. However, elucidating the related molecular biological mechanism of how the SJHY Formula affects excessive inflammation in the process of re-epithelialization of diabetic wound healing is a task urgently needed to be fulfilled. The objectives of th...

BACKGROUND Nonhealing wounds are a major, functionally-limiting medical problem impairing quality of life for millions of people each year. Various studies report complete wound epithelialization of 48 to 56% over 30 to 65 d with different treatment modalities including ultrasound, topical rPDGF-BB, and composite acellular matrix. This is in contrast to comparison control patients treated with ...
