We report our new development of a hidden trajectory model for co-articulated, time-varying patterns of speech. The model uses bi-directional filtering of vocal tract resonance targets to jointly represent contextual variation and phonetic reduction in speech acoustics. A novel maximum-likelihood-based learning algorithm is presented that accurately estimates the distributional parameters of th...
The dependence of four firing statistics in neuronal excitable systems is studied as a function of noise intensity and sinusoidal forcing period. For a range of biologically relevant frequencies, we find that the noise amplitude optimizing these statistics depends on the forcing period T , and that stochastic resonance with time-scale matching occurs. Results are explained by the interplay of g...
In this paper, we investigate the existence of solutions for multi-point boundary value problems at resonance concerning fractional differential equation on a half-line. Our analysis relies on the coincidence degree of Mawhin. As an application, an example is presented to illustrate the main results. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification. 34A08; 34B10; 34B40.

We calculated the mass and width of the d′ resonance inside nuclei within a nucleon-∆ model by including the self-energy of the ∆ in the N∆ propagator. We found that in the nuclear medium the width of the d′ is increased by one order of magnitude while its mass changes only by a few MeV. This broadening of the width of the d′ resonance embedded in nuclei is consistent with the experimental obse...
In this paper, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of solutions to boundary-value problems for second-order impulsive differential equations at resonance. To obtain these results, we apply fixed point methods and new differential inequalities.
INTRODUCTION For a resonant mass sensor, one definition of sensitivity is the ratio of resonant frequency change to mass change. This is not the complete story, however, as the change in resonant frequency needs to be detectable. Thus, the resonator’s Q factor (which is inversely related to damping ratio) is an important characteristic of the resonator. A low Q factor corresponds to a broad res...
Abstract. We present a simple dynamical model to address the question of introducing a stochastic nature in a time variable. This model includes noise in the time variable but not in the “space" variable, which is opposite to the normal description of stochastic dynamics. The notable feature is that these models can induce a “resonance" with varying noise strength in the time variable. Thus, th...
