BACKGROUND Cystic duct adenocarcinoma is a rare disease because the cystic duct has a short length and a narrow cavity. Cystic duct adenocarcinoma accounts for 8% of all gallbladder adenocarcinoma; of these, adenocarcinoma that develops from the remnant cystic duct after cholecystectomy is extremely rare. We report a case of incidentally detected adenocarcinoma that developed from the remnant c...

A 63-year male was admitted with abdominal pain, fever and jaundice. The contrast-enhanced computed tomography, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiography showed a mass in the hepatic hilar region with dilation of the intrahepatic bile duct. The left branch of portal vein was also compressed by the mass. The patient was diagnosed as intrahepatic bile d...

The origin of the intrahepatic bile ducts in the embryonic mouse liver was investigated. At 12.5 and 13.5 gestation days in the C3H/Tw strain mouse, the liver parenchyma contains morphologically and histochemically homogeneous immature hepatocytes but not bile duct cells. When the liver fragments were cultured in the testis, immature hepatocytes differentiated into large hepatocytes for the mos...

Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB) represents biliary papillary tumors mainly growing and is considered to be of relatively low-grade malignancy. Here we report a case of IPNB in whom the poorly differentiated component deeply infiltrated the bile duct wall. A 77-year-old male had an invasive carcinoma of the bile duct 3 cm in size. He underwent right hemihepatectomy with co...

Affected by the Taiwan Strait Warm Current, evaporation intensity around is significantly higher than in other southern and eastern coastal areas of China. To explore a new effective method for maritime communication across Strait, we present preliminary investigation wireless microwave transmission an duct. From 9 to 14 o’clock, percentage duct height exceeding 10 m reached over 90% 2020. With...

The omphalomesenteric duct is an embryonic structure which connects the yolk sac to the midgut. The omphalomesenteric duct attenuates between the 5th and 9th week of gestation. Failure of the omphalomesenteric duct involution, either partial or complete, results in various omphalomesenteric duct remnants including Meckel's diverticulum, patent vitelline duct, fibrous band, sinus tract, umbilica...

BACKGROUND Alagille syndrome is a developmental disorder caused predominantly by mutations in the Jagged1 (JAG1) gene, which encodes a ligand for Notch family receptors. A characteristic feature of Alagille syndrome is intrahepatic bile duct paucity. We described previously that mice doubly heterozygous for Jag1 and Notch2 mutations are an excellent model for Alagille syndrome. However, our pre...

Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB) is a specific type of bile duct tumor. It has been proposed that it could be the biliary counterpart of the intraductal papillary neoplasm of the pancreas (IPMN-P). This hypothesis is supported by the presence of simultaneous intraductal tumors of both the bile duct and pancreas. There have been five reports of patients with simultaneous IP...

Adenomyomatous hyperplasia is rarely found in the extrahepatic bile duct. A 54-year-old man was referred to our center with a diagnosis of extrahepatic bile duct stenosis which had been detected by endoscopic retrograde choloangiopancreatography. Abdominal computed tomography revealed thickening of the wall of the middle extrahepatic bile duct, however no malignant cells were detected by cytolo...

Persistent omphalomesenteric duct as a cause of small-bowel obstruction is an exceptional finding. A neonate presented with occlusion due to intestinal prolapse through a persistent omphalomesenteric duct. Remnants of the duct were successfully resected, and the postoperative course was uneventful. We discuss the presentation of omphalomesenteric duct and its management.
