New oral anticoagulants (NOACs) have been introduced to improve anticoagulant therapy worldwide, but safe implementation may require additional measures. First, optimization of dose adjustment based on therapeutic levels of the drug may be more appropriate than fixed dose therapy. The development and implementation in quantitative laboratory assays will enable further dose optimization. Second,...

abstract   background: the x-ray machines used for radiodiagnosis should meet certain quality assurance (qa) programmes . these are necessary to have good quality radiographs at reasonably low exposure to patients.   materials and methods: dose reduction methods in abdomen x-ray examination were carried out in 10 hospitals in tehran. this paper presents the work, which was implemented on 200 pa...

We evaluated dose optimization for the treatment of cervical cancer using Buchler's high-dose-rate (HDR) remote-control-afterloading-system (RALS). When Buchler's system is used for intracavitary treatment, the irradiation times for the tandem and ovoid sources should be selected separately. The effects of variation of the tandem-to-ovoid dose ratio on the dose distribution are descrlbed.

RapidArc is a novel treatment planning and delivery system that has recently been made available for clinical use. Included within the Eclipse treatment planning system are a number of different optimization strategies that can be employed to improve the quality of the final treatment plan. The purpose of this study is to systematically assess three categories of strategies for four phantoms, a...
