BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Aneurysm geometry has been shown to predict the need for adjunctive techniques in the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms. We conducted a systematic retrospective study examining which thresholds of dome-to-neck ratio, maximum neck width, and aspect ratio of intracranial aneurysms best predict the need for adjunctive techniques in endovascular management. M...

A preliminary analysis of the data from the MSX space infrared satellite, seems to confirm that the [8.8]-[12.5] micron color index is well correlated with the mass-loss rates in carbon stars of our Galaxy. The extension of this midinfrared observation criterion to the Magellanic Clouds, with a small-size telescope like IRAIT, able to perform a continuous survey from Dome-C on the Antarctic Pla...

Cyrtophora cicatrosa weaves a three-dimensional dome web and is commonly found in thorny bushes and cacti. The factors that could be responsible for this selection were studied, both by field observations and laboratory experiments. Structural requirements in terms of space availability were found to be an important factor in the selection of the web site, though other factors could be signific...

Hierarchical structures and uncertainty measures are two main aspects in granular computing, approximate reasoning and cognitive process. Typical hesitant fuzzy sets, as a prime extension of fuzzy sets, are more flexible to reflect the hesitance and ambiguity in knowledge representation and decision making. In this paper, we mainly investigate the hierarchical structures and uncertainty measure...

In this paper, we introduce the concept of dynamical distance on a nuclear conguration space. We partition the nuclear conguration space into disjoint classes. This classification coincides with the classical partitioning of molecular systems via the concept of conjugacy of dynamical systems. It gives a quantitative criterion to distinguish dierent molecular structures.

The best ground-based astronomical sites in terms of telescope sensitivity at infrared and sub-millimetre wavelengths are located on the Antarctic plateau – where high atmospheric transparency and low sky emission are observed due to the extremely cold and dry air; these benefits are well characterised at the South Pole station. The relative advantages offered by three potentially superior site...

The response of structures bonded to the surface of a transversely isotropic half-space (TIHS) under the effect of time-harmonic forces is investigated using a coupled FE-BE scheme. To achieve this end, a Finite Element program has been developed for frequency domain analysis of 3D structures, as the first step. The half-space underlying the structure is taken into consideration using a Boundar...

Lava domes are one of the conspicuous topographic features on volcanoes. The subsurface structure of the lava dome is important to discuss its formation mechanism. In the 1944 eruption of Volcano Usu, Hokkaido, a new lava dome was formed at its eastern foot. After the completion of the lava dome, various geophysical methods were applied to the dome to study its subsurface structure, but resulte...

Dome-shaped macula is described as an inward bulge of the macula within a posterior staphyloma in highly myopic eyes. Choroidal neovascularization is a known complication that can cause visual loss in dome-shaped macula. Herein, we describe a patient who presented with features of polypoidal choroidal neovascularization that developed on a background of high myopia with dome-shaped macula.

We read with interest the article entitled “Volumetric thin-section CT: evaluation of pulmonary interlobar fissures” by Guan et al. (1) in the Nov-Dec 2015 issue of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. The authors gave detailed information about interlobar fissures, their incompleteness, relationship to vascular structures, CT appearance, and defect location. The interlobar fissures and the...
