The mixed dentition pantomogram is routinely used in paediatric patients. This paper discusses the value of the pantomogram for early identification of problems in dental development during the mixed dentition stage. Aspects regarding dental maturity, leeway space, the sequence of eruption of the permanent teeth, anomalies and the development of the canines will be reviewed.
A case of a male patient presenting with unusual dental morphology, anterior supernumerary teeth, and agenesis of premolars associated with congenital cataracts, microphthalmia and anteverted pinna is described. Although 3 similar cases are in the medical literature, this is the first case in which the dental features are described in detail. Dental anomalies associated with many congenital and...

Although ring chromosomes are observed in ahnost all autosomal groups in man, they are rare. We describe a male patient exldbiting cd du chat syndrome in which cytogenetic studies demonstrate the presonse of a ring chromosome 5. Deletion o£ the ring chromosome 5 is found between the p15 and q35 bands. Dental, medical and cytogenetic findings are compared to other ring chromosome 5 cases descMbe...
Chemoradiation therapy used on pediatric oncology patients often causes dental developmental anomalies that affect future dental care. Defects noted include tooth and root agenesis, root thinning and shortening, and localized enamel defects. Histologically, these defects appear as osteoid-like niches in the developing dentin which alter the overlying enamel. Odontogenic cell sensitivity is depe...
the present report aimed to study an uncommon case of a pair of twins that presented a discordant dental phenotype. family investigation, clinical, radiographic examination and molecular analysis were performed in both girls. molecular analysis confirmed the monozygosity by deoxyribonucleic acid chip technology. one twin presented tooth agenesis in left upper lateral incisor and peg-shaped on t...
