This paper proposes a comprehensive evaluation of a monomodal B-spline-based non-rigid registration algorithm allowing topology preservation in 3-D. This article is to be considered as the companion of [Noblet, V., Heinrich, C., Heitz, F., Armspach, J.-P., 2005. 3-D deformable image registration: a topology preservation scheme based on hierarchical deformation models and interval analysis optim...
Nature uses molecular-sized motors and machines in virtually every important biological process and their extraordinary success is inspiring scientists to try to create synthetic devices that mimic the function of these amazing natural systems. However, it is far from obvious to see how to design such machines because mechanical behaviour at the molecular level, where everything is constantly m...

We present a self-stabilizing algorithm for finding a generalized maximal matching ( -matching) in an arbitrary distributed network. We show that the algorithm converges in moves under an unfair central demon independent of the -values at different nodes. The algorithm is capable of working with multiple types of demons (schedulers) as is the most recent algorithm in [1, 2].
O ne manifestation of the sec ond law of thermodynamics is that such devices as refrigera tors, which create inequalities of tem perature, require energy in order to operate. Conversely, an existing in equality of temperature can be ex ploited to do useful work-for exam ple by a steam engine, which exploits the temperature difference between its hot boiler and its cold condenser. Yet in 1...
Deformable image registration (DIR) is a critical technic in adaptive radiotherapy (ART) for propagating contours between planning computerized tomography (CT) images and treatment CT/cone-beam CT (CBCT) images to account for organ deformation for treatment re-planning. To validate the ability and accuracy of DIR algorithms in organ at risk (OAR) contour mapping, ten intensity-based DIR strateg...
PURPOSE To develop and validate a robust CT to cone-beam (CBCT) deformable image registration algorithm that can handle CBCT artifacts and intensity inconsistency, and thus can yield accurate registration results. METHODS We propose a new algorithm called Deformation with Intensity Simultaneously Corrected (DISC). DISC distinguishes itself from the original demons by performing an intensity c...
