Publications are increasingly (often wrongly) being used as research outputs. Furthermore, ‘impacts’ of such publications are often (wrongly as well) measured using ‘citations’. Popular metric, like the ‘Hirsch index’, or ‘h-index’ is used as yardstick for judging the quality of individual researchers. However, there are many controversies around it, whether it is a good yardstick, which could ...

In this paper, we construct a fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) scheme over integers with the message space ZQ for any prime Q. Even for the binary case Q = 2, our decryption circuit has a smaller degree than that of the previous scheme; the multiplicative degree is reduced from O(λ(log λ)) to O(λ), where λ is the security parameter. We also extend our FHE scheme to a batch FHE scheme.

Article history: Received: 18.6.2015. Received in revised form: 29.11.2015. Accepted: 1.12.2015. Dynamic damage evolution during coal seam pulse water infusion is simulated through secondary development of ABAQUS software in this paper in order to obtain the rule of dynamic damage evolution of coal seam around the pulse water infusion hole. It provides a new quantitative method of determining c...

A computationally method on damage detection problems in structures was conducted using neural networks. The problem that is considered in this works consists of estimating the existence, location and extent of stiffness reduction in structure which is indicated by the changes of the structural static parameters such as deflection and strain. The neural network was trained to recognize the beha...

We develop a thermodynamic framework for modeling nonlinear ultrasonic damage sensing and prognosis in materials undergoing progressive damage. The framework is based on the internal variable approach and relies on the construction of a pseudo-elastic strain energy function that captures the energetics associated with the damage progression. The pseudo-elastic strain energy function is composed...

This study involves the quantification of fatigue damage in asphalt materials by introducing a new parameter denoted as F parameter. One waste filler, i.e., red mud and an binder were chosen to blend mastics at three filler contents 10, 20, 30% respectively with respect volume tested temperatures 5, 15, 25 °C. The proposed incorporates effect both peak shear stress well failure strain, hence, c...

We introduce a continuous damage fiber bundle model and compare its behavior with that of dry fiber bundles. Several interesting constitutive behaviors, such as plasticity, are found in this model depending on the value of the damage parameter and on the form of the disorder distribution. We compare the constitutive behavior of global load transfer models, obtained analytically, with local load...

The presence of part-through cracks with limited length is one of the prevalent defects in the plate structures. Due to the slight effect of this type of damages on the frequency response of the plates, conventional vibration-based damage assessment could be a challenging task. In this study for the first time, a recently developed state-space method which is based on the chaotic excitation is ...

To rapidly assess the potential for damage of an earthquake for purposes of earthquake early warning in Taiwan, we used the peak displacement and velocity amplitudes of the first 3 sec of the P wave. The vertical-component records, highpass filtered at 0.075 Hz, are used. We found that the peak initial-displacement amplitude (Pd) correlates well with the peak ground-motion displacement (PGD) an...
