A classical, stochastic, coupled-oscillator model for the emergence of partial coherence in arrays of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers is presented. The spectra of the uncoupled lasers determine the second order coherence properties of the coupled system. Predictions of the resultant radiation and interference patterns are verified experimentally.
A general dynamical system composed by two coupled sectors is considered. The initial time configuration of one of these sectors is described by a set of classical data while the other is described by standard quantum data. These dynamical systems will be named half quantum. The aim of this paper is to derive the dynamical evolution of a general half quantum system from its full quantum formula...
Time correlation function expressions for quantum reaction-rate coefficients are computed in a quantum-classical limit. This form for the correlation function retains the full quantum equilibrium structure of the system in the spectral density function but approximates the time evolution of the operator by quantum-classical Liouville dynamics. Approximate analytical expressions for the spectral...
In this paper we consider possibilities to mimic quantum-like computations with classical nano-scale devices. In particular, we study dynamics of coupled oscillators arrays and propose a method to imitate basic one-qubit and two-qubit operations using coupled oscillator networks.
Natural ligands of G-protein-coupled receptors interact with the orthosteric ligand binding site, as do most of the classical synthetic ligands. The discovery of ligands targeting different, allosteric binding sites considerably expanded the repertoire of G-protein-coupled receptor ligands. More recently, bitopic ligands have been described that target both orthosteric and allosteric sites at t...
We determine quantum master and filter equations for continuous measurement of systems coupled to input fields in certain non-classical continuous-mode states, specifically single photon states. The quantum filters are shown to be derivable from an embedding into a larger non-Markovian system, and are given by a system of coupled stochastic differential equations.
‘romanticism’ and ‘romantic’ are among the most controversial terms in literature. most readers, when encountering these words, would think of the well-known period of romanticism of the first three decades of the nineteenth century and the great six english poets known as ‘the big six’ of this period. however, romanticism does not belong to certain artists in a special period; one may seek ele...
In the standard approaches to neutrino transport in the simulation of core-collapse supernovas, one will often start from the classical Boltzmann equation for the neutrino’s spatial, temporal, and spectral evolution. For each neutrino species, and its anti-particle, the classical density in phase space, or the associated specific intensity, will be calculated as a function of time. The neutrino...
A mixed quantum-classical approach where the environment is treated classically and the reactive degrees of freedom are considered to be quantum mechanical can be used to describe many chemical reactions, such as proton and electron transfer processes. We present reactive flux correlation function expressions for the rate constants of nonadiabatic chemical reactions occurring in quantum-classic...
