The Western Subarctic Gyre (WSG) is a cyclonic upwelling gyre in the northwest subarctic Pacific, which region with high concentration of nutrients but low chlorophyll. We investigated community structure and spatial distribution phytoplankton this area by using HPLC-pigment CHEMTAX (a chemotaxonomy program) metabarcoding sequencing during summer 2021. showed significant differences between two...
The essential oil obtained from the aerial parts of the Turkish endemism Stachys aleurites (Lamiaceae) has been studied. The main constituents were sesquiterpene hydrocarbons: bcaryophyllene (33.7%), bicyclogermacrene (14.5%) and germacrene D (9.6%). The main monoterpene was a-pinene (8.4%). Some chemotaxonomical considerations have been provided. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
Phospholipid-derived fatty acids (PLFA) are widely used as chemotaxonomic markers in microbial ecology. In this paper we explore the use of PLFA as chemotaxonomic markers for phytoplankton species. The PLFA composition was determined for 23 species relevant to estuarine phytoplankton. The taxonomic groups investigated were Chlorophyceae, Trebouxiophyceae, Prasinophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Dino...
Two Gram-stain-positive, mycelium-forming actinobacteria (strains 14-Be-013T and 02-Gi-014) were isolated from walls colonized with moulds and studied taxonomically. The isolates formed yellowish-pigmented substrate mycelium showing no fragmentation. Comparative analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that these bacteria are most closely related to genera within the family Nocardiopsaceae, b...
An extremely halotolerant and alkaliphilic bacterium was isolated previously from deep-sea sediment collected at a depth of 1050 m on the Iheya Ridge. The strain, designated HTE831 (JCM 11309, DSM 14371), was Gram-positive, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped, motile by peritrichous flagella, and spore-forming. Strain HTE831 grew at salinities of 0-21% (w/v) NaCl at pH 7.5 and 0-18% at pH 9.5. The opt...
This study is aimed at assessing the essential oil composition, total phenolic content, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of Thymus vulgaris collected in five different area of the Campania Region, Southern Italy. The chemical composition of the essential oils was studied by GC-flame ionization detector (FID) and GC/MS; the biological activities were evaluated through determination of MI...
Fatty acids (FAs) are the main components of lipids in corals. We examined FAs profiles from five symbiotic coral species belonging to different genera (Acropora, Pavona, Turbinaria, Favites, and Platygyra) four families (Acroporidae, Agariciidae, Dendrophyllidae, Faviidae). separated symbionts host tissue investigate interaction FA between tissue. After separation, we used profiles, particular...
