The combination of Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APS) and Autoimmune Haemolytic Anemia (AIHA) is extremely unusual. However, APS with underlying SLE has a well-documented link to Coomb’s positive AIHA. antibody syndrome autoimmune haemolytic anaemia can cause cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, which rare neurologic symptom. We reported 16- year-old girl the neurology ward dull aching heada...

BACKGROUND Cerebral venous strokes due to cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) have varied presentation and clinical outcome. Despite aggressive medical treatment with optimal anticoagulation, some patients develop progressive neurologic deterioration causing significant morbidity and mortality. The aim of the present series is to analyze the safety and efficacy of in situ thrombolysis in pa...

Venous sinus thrombosis is a relatively uncommon disorder that frequently is associated with confusing clinical findings and delayed diagnosis. Patients are often screened with unenhanced CT, and CT findings may be subtle and may include hyperattenuation of cerebral veins or venous sinuses secondary to intracranial thrombosis. This hyperattenuation may be mimicked by polycythemia, as shown in t...

Bilateral thalamic dysfunction secondary to venous congestion may result from either venous sinus thrombosis or high flow arteriovenous malformations or a combination of both. We present a case of bilateral thalamic edema resulting from concomitant choroid plexus arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and straight sinus thrombosis and describe our treatment approach. The patient presented with severa...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Outcome from sinus vein thrombosis is very variable, with symptoms from headache to coma. Experimental findings suggest that an involvement of cortical veins is necessary to affect the cerebral microcirculation. Laser Doppler flowmetry was used to investigate the regional and temporal changes in local cortical blood flow after experimental occlusion and thrombosis of the ...

The main neonatal stroke syndromes discussed in this article are: arterial ischemic stroke (AIS), including perinatal AIS, and "presumed" perinatal AIS; cerebral venous thrombosis, including cortical vein and venous sinus thrombosis and germinal matrix hemorrhage/periventricular hemorrhagic infarction; and intraparenchymal hemorrhage. This review discusses general pathophysiological mechanisms ...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE A positive correlation between HCT and CT attenuation of intravascular blood has long been assumed but has never been established by using substantial patient numbers and modern CT equipment. The purpose of this study was to determine whether apparent increased attenuation on CT in cerebral venous sinuses can be attributed to hemoconcentration alone and to assess whether ...

We report two cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis associated with an antibody to phospholipids, namely the lupus anticoagulant. Both patients later developed further immunologically mediated conditions. The importance of screening for the lupus anticoagulant in addition to anticardiolipin antibodies in this condition and the need for follow-up of such patients is discussed.
