This paper presents a technique for color-shading ooset surfaces of CSG models. The ooset surfaces are generated by rst scan converting the CSG model into a distance volume. A distance volume is a volume dataset where the value stored at each voxel is the shortest distance to the surface of the object being represented by the volume. Extracting iso-surfaces from the distance volume at various o...
Bandpass sampling, reconstruction, and antialiasing filtering in analog front ends potentially provide the best performance of software defined radios. However, conventional techniques used for these procedures limit reconfigurability and adaptivity of the radios, complicate integrated circuit implementation, and preclude achieving potential performance. Novel sampling and reconstruction techni...
In this paper, a new adaptive Loop subdivision algorithm is introduced. Adaptive subdivision refines specific areas of a model according to user or application needs. Our algorithm extends the specified area such that when it is adaptively subdivided, it produces a smooth surface with visually pleasing connectivity. As adaptive subdivision is repeated, subdivision depth changes gradually from o...
The role of an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) in a digital still camera is to remove the high spatial frequencies that cause aliasing, thereby enhancing the image quality. However, this also causes some loss of detail. Yet, when an image is captured without the OLPF, moiré generally appears in the high spatial frequency region of the image. Accordingly, this paper presents a moiré reduction met...
Context: in large-scale spatial surveys, the Point Spread Function (PSF) varies across the instrument field of view (FOV). Local measurements of the PSFs are given by the isolated stars images. Yet, these estimates may not be directly usable for post-processings because of the observational noise and potentially the aliasing. Aims: given a set of aliased and noisy stars images from a telescope,...
The accuracy of gradient-based optical flow algorithms depends on the ability to measure intensity gradients accurately. We show how the temporal gradient can be compromised by temporal aliasing arising from motion and how appropriate post-sampling spatial filtering improves the situation. We also demonstrate a benefit of using higher-order gradient estimators.
The CAIPIRINHA (Controlled Aliasing In Parallel Imaging Results IN Higher Acceleration) concept in parallel imaging has recently been introduced, which modifies the appearance of aliasing artifacts during data acquisition in order to improve the subsequent parallel imaging reconstruction procedure. This concept has been successfully applied to simultaneous multi-slice imaging (MS CAIPIRINHA). I...
Purpose: This work focuses on the reduction of scan time required by the phase-contrast (PC) MRA technique. The presented work builds on earlier work [1] in the way of parameter optimization. The proposed method consists of a 3D variable density spiral projection imaging (SPI) trajectory [2] combined with a dual velocity encoding technique [3]. SPI is a rapid imaging technique that improves acq...
When using a gradient-based method to determine the optical flow field for an image sequence, it is generally appreciated that some spatial pre-filtering of the images is usually needed, particularly for large motion values. However the characteristics of the filter are not generally given. In this paper we analyse the motion measurement from the point of view of sampling theory. We show how an...
