We consider the possibility of having a large branching ratio for the decay b → sg coming from an enhanced Wilson coefficient of the chromomagnetic dipole operator. We show that values of BR(b → sg) up to ∼ 10% or more are compatible with the constraints coming from the CLEO experimental results on BR(B → Xsγ) and BR(B → Xsφ). Such large values can reconcile the predictions of both the semilept...

The Golden Ratio (a ratio of ~1.618:1) appears repeatedly in nature including structural and functional traits of organisms (e.g. Fibonacci spirals of snail shells and certain seed heads), the spiraled shape of galaxies and hurricanes, and even in much cultural architecture and art. In the mid-19th century, branching structures in plant and animal vascular systems were found to follow the Golde...

We introduce a model-independent approximation for the branching ratio of Hawkes self-exciting point processes. Our estimator requires knowing only the mean and variance of the event count in a sufficiently large time window, statistics that are readily obtained from empirical data. The method we propose greatly simplifies the estimation of the Hawkes branching ratio, recently proposed as a pro...

A new measurement of the branching ratio R_{e/μ}=Γ(π^{+}→e^{+}ν+π^{+}→e^{+}νγ)/Γ(π^{+}→μ^{+}ν+π^{+}→μ^{+}νγ) resulted in R_{e/μ}^{exp}=[1.2344±0.0023(stat)±0.0019(syst)]×10^{-4}. This is in agreement with the standard model prediction and improves the test of electron-muon universality to the level of 0.1%.

We calculate CP-violating rate asymmetries in the rare radiative decays B → Kγ and B → ργ. They arise because of the interference between leading-order penguin amplitudes and one-gluon corrections with absorptive phases, and provide unambiguous evidence for direct CP violation. Complementing earlier studies, we also investigate gluon exchange with the ‘spectator’ quark. The bound state effects ...

To investigate the X-ray absorption (XAS) branching ratio from the core 4d to valence 5f states, we set up a theoretical framework by using a combination of density functional theory in the Local Density Approximation and Dynamical Mean-Field Theory (LDA+DMFT), and apply it to several actinides. The results of the LDA+DMFT reduces to the band limit for itinerant systems and to the atomic limit ...

We evaluate the prospects for detecting a non-standard light Higgs boson with a significant branching ratio to two photons, in the Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron. We derive the reach for several channels: 2γ inclusive, 2γ + 1 jet, and 2γ + 2 jets. We present the expected Run II limits on the branching ratio of h → γγ as a function of the Higgs mass, for the case of “bosonic”, as well as “topco...
