Abstract The joining process of bainitic rails is significant in terms their industrialization high-speed and heavy-loaded railways. This paper demonstrates the microstructure changes critical zone welded joint, which responsible for greatest deterioration mechanical properties. Extensive progress decomposition retained austenite ferrite occurs low-temperature heat-affected (LTHAZ) flash-butt j...
Welding is an essential fabrication step during the construction of pipelines using high-strength low-alloy steels. The base metal experiences a rapid thermal excursion in heat-affected zone, resulting modification microstructure and mechanical properties. In particular, coarse-grain zone closest to weld pool significance for integrity pipelines. present work, hardness were quantified from labo...
Low‐alloyed steels are used for a variety of different applications like bearings or gears. Additive manufacturing technologies directed energy deposition (DED‐LB/M) allow fast and close‐to‐contour fabrication sophisticated products without excessive waste material. However, the DED‐LB/M process cannot be considered as state‐of‐the‐art this group materials. This study presents findings on mater...
Bainite transformation behavior was monitored using simultaneous measurements of dilatometry and small angle neutron scattering (SANS). The volume fraction of bainitic ferrite was estimated from the SANS intensity, showing good agreement with the results of the dilatometry measurements. We propose a more advanced monitoring technique combining dilatometry, SANS and neutron diffraction.
Bainitic microstructures in which fine platelets offerrite are intimately mixed with films of austenite are known to exhibit good combinations of strength and toughness. It isfound that the thickness of these austenitefilms can be estimated by assuming that the carbon diffusion field around an existing plate offerrite prevents the close approach of another parallel plate. This is because the re...
Retained austenite is a key feature used to realize the transformation-induced plasticity in bainitic high strength steels. In this study, authors focused on formation of metastable Fe-0.61C-1.9Si-0.98Mn (mass%) during isothermal heating processes using situ neutron diffraction techniques. Quantitative discussion carbon partitioning enabled by applying an phase fraction analysis considering cry...
Due to a combination of advantages, high-performance steel components, especially for automotive manufacturing applications, are generally forged parts. In the forging industry, bainitic steels being increasingly used, because they can reduce processing chain and energy consumption. this case, microstructure be obtained immediately after forging, with controlled cooling, without any subsequent ...
Abstract In this study, 45Si2MnCr2Mo steel was fabricated by casting, hot rolling, and normalizing, followed tempering at different temperatures from 180 to 520 °C for 2 h. Special attention paid the effects of on microstructure mechanical properties steel. The results indicate that tempered consists bainite, martensite, retained austenite (RA), it is not sensitive below 320 °C. However, after ...
Excellent mechanical properties of nanostructured bainitic steels are primarily related to the ultra fine scale their structure constituents. Typically, such is exhibited by suitably treated with high carbon and silicon content. Regardless, common application this steel grade in industry limited some in-used that have not yet been explained. This mainly concerns possibility joining, long-term o...
