A. Cosmological proof of the Existence of God In the 3rd Meditation, Descartes attempts to prove that God (i) exists, (ii) is the cause of the essence of the meditator (i.e. the author of his nature as a thinking thing), and (iii) the cause of the meditator's existence (both as creator and conserver, i.e. the cause that keeps him in existence from one moment to the next). The proof that God exi...
Background and Purpose: Aging period is a critical stage of life, and attention to the problems and needs of this life stage is a social concern. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between attachment to God and psychological hardiness and dead anxiety in retired elderly men. In this paper we introduce a general version of the notion of Loewner chains which comes from the new and unified treatment, given in [5], of the radial and chordal variant of the Loewner differential equation, which is of special interest in geometric function theory as well as for various developments it has given rise to, including the famous Schramm-Loewner evolution. In this very general s...
We present a new extension of the well-known Perron-Frobenius theorem to regular matrix pairs (E, A). The new extension is based on projector chains and is motivated from the solution of positive differential-algebraic systems or descriptor systems. We present several examples where the new condition holds, whereas conditions in previous literature are not satisfied.
When I first studied ethics as part of my theological training this centred on the Decalogue. While some special attention was paid to issues in social ethics as well as the challenge of the New Morality popularised by Bishop Robinson and Joseph Fletcher, the approach was in the main deontological. It was based on the “oughts” or necessity (Gk. deon) of God's law. Probably this approach was rep...
The divergence between the two textual variants of Dan 7:13 (“Old Greek” and “Theodotion”) and their distinct ways of understanding the relationship between Daniel’s “Ancient of Days” and “Son of Man” is insufficiently studied by scholars of the Book of Daniel, and is neglected by translators of the LXX. This article offers a critical examination of the status quaestionis and a discussion of th...
This research project examined the extent to which an individual’s religion, or lack thereof, impacted their scores on the Individualism Collectivism Scale (Singelis, Triandis, Bhawuk, & Gelfand, 1995). This study drew 205 mostly Caucasian participants, who were diverse in terms of gender, income, and education. Data were gathered via online survey, which gathered responses to a demographic for...
Abū ‘Alī ibn Sīnā (d. 428/1027) is regarded as the most influential philosopher in Islamic intellectual history. Of his numerous contributions, none has garnered more attention than ontological proof for existence of God, known ‘the Demonstration Truthful’ (Burhān al-ṣiddiqīn). In this proof, Ibn argues that only one being can be ‘necessarily existent’ (wājib al-wujūd). He goes on to say all at...
