Zinc concentrations in CSF were determined with flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry in patients assumed to have a normal CSF. No sex difference was found. There was a correlation between zinc, protein and albumin concentrations in CSF. In patients with increased protein levels in CSF or subarachnoid haemorrhage increased zinc concentrations were found.

On the basis of atomic absorption spectrophotometry rat teeth and mandible magnesium levels in experimental postmenopausal osteoporosis and after administration of 17 βestradiol were measured. The results showed that estrogen deficiency after ovariectomy decreased the magnesium content in rat teeth and mandible and administration of 17β-estradiol influences in good way the mineral components of...

IN CONVENTIONAL atomic absorption spectrophotometry a solution of the sample is introduced into the flame as an aerosol by means of a nebulizer. However, commercial nebulizers are only about 5 efficient in forming fine droplets suitable for atomization by the flame ( I ) . Furthermore, a solution aspirated at a usual rate of 3-5 ml/min for about 10 sec produces a concentration signal extending ...

We sought to establish optimum conditions for measuring calcium in erythrocytes by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The conditions we selected are as follows. Wash one volume of fresh heparin-treated packed cells once with 30 volumes of isotonic buffered saline (pH 7.4) at a temperature somewhat exceeding 25 degrees C. Dilute the washed packed cells 10-fold with 12 mmol/L hydrochloric acid,...

This method for direct determination of Zn in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) involves flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry with a pulse nebulizer technique. Standard solutions of Zn in 150 mmol/L NaCl were used. We could account for 88% of added standard with the method in individual samples from 10 patients and in pooled CSF. The method is acceptably precise, CVs in pooled CSF ranging from 4 t...

extraction of trace amounts of toxic heavy metals from complicated environmental matrixes is a  challenging task. the aim of this investigation is the comparison of the extraction efficiencies and other related experimental variables ( chemicals, effect of ph, potential interfering ions) on the determination of inorganic lead ( ) which is present in waste water of dye industries. compared techn...

Zinc concentrations in aqueous humour and serum were determined by means of atomic absorption spectrophotometry in 11 patients with cataract. The zinc content of the aqueous humour was found to be considerably lower than the corresponding serum values. From this finding it is suggested that aqueous humour does not serve as a likely route of delivery of zinc to the cornea.

The present work demonstrates the heavy metal resistance and detoxification of Cr(VI) by the probiotic actinobacterial cultures isolated from chicken and goat feces. The actinobacterial isolates were screened for heavy metal resistance by qualitative, semiquantitative assays and Cr(VI) biosorption was determined by analytical techniques such as atomic absorption spectrophotometry and Fourier tr...

This paper reviews the following problems, sampling, decomposition procedures and most important analytical methods used for selenium determination, e.g., neutron activation analysis, atomic absorption spectrometry, gas-liquid chromatography, spectrophotometry, fluorimetry, and x-ray fluorescence. This review covers the literature mainly from 1975 to 1977.
