BACKGROUND Fibrin pupillary-block glaucoma is a rare complication after cataract surgery. The treatment for this condition is still controversial, since Nd:YAG laser fibrin membranotomy tends to reocclude and laser peripheral iridotomy entails the risk of damaging the corneal endothelium in the presence of corneal edema associated with elevated intraocular pressure. CASE PRESENTATION A 62-yea...
AIM To study the various ocular anatomical and physiological parameters in presbyopia. MATERIALS AND METHODS We studied the various ocular anatomical and physiological parameters like corneal curvature (keratometry readings: K1 and K2), central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT) and axial length (AL) in 100 presbyopic patients between 35 - 55 years of a...
Posterior microphthalmos is a rare condition which is characterized by the disproportionately small size of the posterior segment of the eye. The corneal diameter, central anterior chamber depth and the lens thickness are all within the normal range. We present a case of posterior microphthalmos with all normal anterior segment measurements except increased corneal curvature.
Aim: The aim of this study is to introduced the efficacy, longevity and safety of this new ‘T’shaped limbal based sclera flap with fornix based conjunctival flap trabeculectomy leading to better result like controlling intra ocular pressure satisfactory ,and no shallow anterior chamber after the surgery. Method: As it is a clinical research which was done on 26 patients and all the patient went...
SINCE narrow-angle glaucoma was described by Barkan (1938), conflicting opinions have been expressed as to the correctness of his views. Barkan postulated, and many authors have since agreed with him, that the rise in intra-ocular pressure in the condition usually known as congestive glaucoma, is due to mechanical obstruction to the outflow of aqueous at the filtration angle of the anterior cha...
A new method of estimating the depth of the anterior chamber with an accuracy of approximately 0-1 mm is described. The estimate is made with a conventional Haag-Streit 900 slit lamp without any extra attachments.
PURPOSE To study the relationships between the refractive power of the crystalline lens, overall refractive error of the eye, and degree of nuclear cataract. METHODS All phakic participants of the population-based Central India Eye and Medical Study with an age of 50+ years were included. Calculation of the refractive lens power was based on distance noncycloplegic refractive error, corneal r...
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of horizontal muscle surgery (recession or recession plus resection) on the anterior chamber parameters in patients after strabismus surgery. METHODS The Scheimpflug of 18 eyes of 12 patients with horizontal deviations were recorded just before surgery and 1 month after surgery. The power of anterior surface of cornea in horizontal and vertical axis, thinnest co...
PURPOSE To demonstrate the feasibility of measuring the anterior structures of the human eye by partial coherence interferometry and to determine its precision for eyes under normal and cycloplegic conditions. METHODS The dual-beam version of partial coherence interferometry, a recently developed noninvasive optical ranging technique, enables high resolution measurements of several intraocula...
PURPOSE To study the mechanisms of pupillary block in eyes with occludable angle by ultrasound biomicroscopy. METHODS Initially, a pilot study of 13 eyes with acute primary angle-closure without medication was executed. Ultrasound biomicroscopy measurements of the angle, posterior chamber depth and iris thickness were performed in the temporal quadrant under light and dark conditions. Afterwa...
