l. The immunological cross-reaction of bovine growth hormone (BGH, NIH-GH-D8) with the antiserum to the bovine diabetogenic protein (BDP) has been determined to be the result of contamination of the BGH preparation with a highly anionic protein. 2. This highly anionic protein is probably BDP.

Surfactant-Modified MFI-Zeolite Nanosheets (SMZN) were used for the first time as anion-exchangers, in the case of nitrate ion removal. The SMZN material is characterized by high anionic exchange capacity and removal efficiency compared to classical SMZ prepared from clinoptilolite. The SMZN material is easily regenerated and could be probably employed to remove other anionic pollutants.

The synthesis and polymerizability of atom-bridged bicyclic monomers was surveyed. The monomers included lactams, ureas, urethanes, lactones, carbonates, ethers, acetals, orthoesters, and amines. Despite widely-varying structures, they almost all polymerized to give polymers with monocyclic rings in the chain. The polymerizations are grouped by mechanism: uncoordinated anionic, coordinated anio...

The properties of the endolysosomal enzyme GCase (glucosylceramidase), carrying the most prevalent mutation observed in Gaucher patients, namely substitution of an asparagine residue with a serine at amino acid position 370 [N370S (Asn370-->Ser) GCase], were investigated in the present study. We previously demonstrated that Sap (saposin) C, the physiological GCase activator, promotes the associ...

Fifteen Friesian oxen between 12 and 18 months of age with a mean body mass of 240.7 kg were randomly assigned to diets containing 0.25% phosphorus (P) or less to evaluate the acute effects of an acidiogenic diet of -11.1 meq/100 g of diet dry matter, compared with a basiogenic diet of +25.6 meq/100 g or a control diet of +16.5 meq/100 g of diet dry matter calculated as (Na + K)-(Cl + S), on bl...

this paper presents the development of a model for evaluating adsorbable organic halogens’(aox) removal efficiency during wastewater treatment by using the micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration (meuf)technique. surfactants can form larger aggregates (micelles) were prepared into which aoxs dissolve and arethen retained by the membrane. synthetic wastewater samples containing certain concentrations ...

Recent technological advances have generated a flood of protein sequence data, much of it deduced from the DNA sequences of cloned genes. In this commentary I will discuss an unexpected sequence motif found in a number of proteins that are thought to interact directly or indirectly with DNA. The motif, which I will term an Aregion (acidic region), is a local high concentration of acidic residue...

Background and purpose:The presence of dyes in wastewaters may cause serious problems for the environment because of their high toxicity to aquatic organisms and unfavorable aesthetical impact. In the present study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used for removal of anionic dyes Direct Blue 106 (DB106) and Acid Green 25 (AG25), from water samples. Materials and Methods:MWCNTs were ...
