The presented tool “Plantage+” significantly speeds up the layout process of analog circuits. Integrated in an industrial IC design environment, the tool recognizes basic building blocks in the circuit. It automatically sets up constraints and generates layouts using a deterministic algorithm.
Three different but complementary approaches to higher-level specification of analog circuits are proposed as a set of extensions to SPICElike circuit simulators. They include table-driven, formuladriven and program-driven generalized characteristics of (nonlinear) circuit elements as well as whole “blocks”.
