We hypothesized that high-intensity aerobic interval training results in a greater beneficial adaptation of the heart compared with that observed after low-to-moderate exercise intensity. This is supported by recent epidemiological, experimental, and clinical studies. Cellular and molecular mechanisms of myocardial adaptation to exercise training are discussed in this review.

Increased concentrations of circulating insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) or IGF-I relative to IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) are associated with increased risk of developing several forms of cancer. Conversely, exercise is linked with reduced risk. This study aims to investigate the effect of a low-intensity exercise program on circulating levels of IGF-I, IGFBP-1, and IGFBP-3, in previously...

OBJECTIVE Exercise has been accepted and generally recommended for the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) and for improving the overall quality of life in affected individuals. This meta-analysis was conducted to determine the overall effects of exercise (acute bouts of exercise and chronic exercise [or training]) on acute and chronic glycaemic control in patients with T1D, the effect...

Introduction: In patients with breast cancer, low serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels and high serum tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α level have been reported. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of eight weeks of high-intensity circuit training on serum levels of BDNF and TNFα and aerobic power in breast cancer survivors. Methods: This randomized control...

The purpose of this study was to determine the aerobic training intensity from the maximal and submaximal running exercise in 21 untrained adult men. To accomplish this, we evaluated the relationship between physiological (oxygen intake and heart rate) and physical parameters (running speed) of training intensity, and determined the training intensity at the submaximal exercise. Oxygen intake a...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of a 12 week aerobic and resistance exercise on body composition of adolescents with Down syndrome. METHODS A quasi-experimental study with 41 adolescents with Down syndrome, aged 15.5±2.7 years, divided into three groups: Aerobic Training Group (ATG; n=16), Resisted Training Group (RTG; n=15) and Control Group (CG; n=10). There were two types of training:...

Background: Nesfatin-1 is an adipokine that released by adipose tissue and participated in the regulation of insulin activity and glucose metabolism. The aim of this research is the investigation the effect of aerobic training and walnut consumption on nesfatin-1 and insulin resistance index of women Type 2 diabetes. Methods: 40 women aged 40 to 50  years old with type 2 diabetes after hom...

Blood hypercoagulability or thrombogenicity can be one of the main causes of the cardiovascular diseases in young population without traditional pathologic risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension or hyperlipidemia. The effect of aerobic exercise on coagulation and fibrinolysis has been studied extensively Regarding to the effectivness of resistance exercises to increase functional...
