We model an impulse control problem when the controller’s action affects the state as well as the dynamics of the state process for a random amount of time. We apply our model to solve a central bank intervention problem in the foreign exchange market when the market observes and reacts to the bank’s interventions. Published by Elsevier B.V.
The concept of Semigroup Action Problem (SAP) was introduced by C. Monico in 2002. He defined Diffie-Hellman key exchange and ElGamal cryptosystem taking SAP as an underlying problem. The aim of this paper is to define the application of SAP in designing a zero knowledge undeniable signature scheme. We also discuss the security analysis of the proposed scheme.
The metal mesostructured Pt/Sn/Se chalcogenides with cubic MCM-48 type pore symmetry are found to be surprisingly stable in concentrated oxidizing acids. Their metal chalcogenide framework exhibits high flexibility during reversible proton exchange as it expands and contracts in an apparent breathing-like action.
While there are different research groups in the mobile computing community, most research requires mobile action data in terms of user calling and mobility patterns. Since collection of such real data is currently difficult and since most activity data is proprietary [12], researchers need to model this mobile activity data to evaluate their work. In [9] we model parameterized mobile actions i...
A subset U of vertices of a graph G is called a determining set if every automorphism of G is uniquely determined by its action on the vertices of U . A subset W is called a resolving set if every vertex in G is uniquely determined by its distances to the vertices of W . Determining (resolving) sets are said to have the exchange property in G if whenever S and R are minimal determining (resolvi...
Arf (ADP-ribosylation factor) proteins form a special class of small GTP-binding proteins in that their activation by GDP/GTP exchange is coupled to their recruitment to membranes using a built-in structural mechanism. These coupled processes are stimulated by GEFs (guanine nucleotide-exchange factors) that carry a catalytic Sec7 domain, whose basic mechanism has been uncovered by biochemical a...
We have measured Na+-CaZ+ exchange in the insideout vesicles of highly purified cardiac sarcolemma from dog ventricles. This was accomplished in a mixed population of Sarcolemmal vesicles by first loading the inside-out vesicles with Na+ through the action of the glycoside-sensitive, ATP-dependent Na' pump. Due to the asymmetric nature of active Na' transport, this will only occur in inside-out...
Active resource transfer is a pervasive and distinctive feature of human sociality. We hypothesized that humans possess an action schema of giving specific for representing social interactions based on material exchange, and specified the set of necessary assumptions about giving events that this action schema should be equipped with. We tested this proposal by investigating how 12-month-old in...
The participation of Na+ in regulation of intracellular Ca++ content and in formation of spontaneous action potentials of guinea-pig ureter was studied. It was shown that the fast decrease of intracellular Ca++ in the Ca(++)-loaded muscles was accompanied by enhancement of Na+ content in the cells. The concentration gradient of Na+ was found to define the effectiveness of Ca(++)-extrusion from ...
In 1987, Lee Shulman and Hugh Sockett had an important exchange in the Harvard Educational Review. Shulman argued for the central role of knowledge in good teaching. Sockett responded that good teaching cannot be understood as primarily a matter of knowledge and skills, because it centrally involves moral action in particular contexts. This essay sharpens the question of whether knowledge-based...
