Molybdenum (Mo) and chromium (Cr) in 79 Japanese breast milk samples were measured by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. For Mo, 51 samples (64.6%) showed less than 5 ng/ml and only 12 samples (15.2%) showed more than 10 ng/ml. The range and median were <0.1 to 25.91 and 3.18 ng/ml respectively. Pulverized rhizome of Curcuma longa on hydrodistilation, afforded oil in the yield of 1.24% v/w. The oil was investigated by GC and GC/MS. Hydrocarbon monoterpenes (46.9%) constituted bulk of the oil.
