The amino acid sequence of the mheA gene of Aspergillus oryzae encodes a putative metallothionein-like protein 1. The size of the mheA transcript was 497 nt and the mheA promoter was induced by glucose, consistent with results of analysis by Northern hybridization and with the pdcA promoter, respectively.

Sporotrichosis is an emerging zoonosis in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From 1998 to 2003, 497 humans and 1,056 cats with culture-proven sporotrichosis were studied. A total of 421 patients, 67.4% with a history of a scratch or bite, reported contact with cats that had sporotrichosis.

We determined the DNA sequence of the hag gene of Escherichia coli K-12 and deduced the primary structure of the flagellin consisting of 497 amino acid residues. Comparison of the amino acid sequence with those of other bacterial flagellins revealed a high homology in the NH2- and COOH-terminal regions.
