A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the general common positive solution to equations A1X = C1, XB2 = C2, A3XA ∗ 3 = C3, A4XA ∗ 4 = C4 for operators between Hilbert C-modules is established, and an expression for the common positive solution to the equations is derived when the solvability conditions are satisfied. As an application, a new necessary and sufficient conditio...

Two 4 x 4 Latin square trials (4-wk periods; 16 wk total) were conducted to see whether supplementing rumen-protected Met (RPM; fed as Mepron) would allow feeding less crude protein (CP), thereby reducing urinary N excretion, but without losing production. In trial 1, 24 Holsteins were fed 4 diets as total mixed rations containing [dry matter (DM) basis]: 18.6% CP and 0 g of RPM/d; 17.3% CP and...

Tar and substantial CH4 CO2 are contained in gasified fuels, which pose an obstacle to direct chemical synthesis, this is a predominant challenge for biomass gasification technology. Herein, packed−bed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor was built simultaneous dry reforming tar removal with La−Ni/γ−Al2O3 catalyst. The interaction between plasma catalysis investigated. results indicated t...

The subjects of the study were 112 patients with rheumatic polymyalgia (RPM) and giant-cell arteritis (GSA). The study shows that RPM and GSA are complicated by cerebral flow disturbances and myocardial infarction. Therapy with prednisolone and non-steroid antiinflammatory drugs reduces the risk of these complications and lethal outcome in patients with RPM and GSA.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sliced body volume (SBV) as a respiratory surrogate by comparing with the real-time position management (RPM) in phantom and patient cases. Using the SBV surrogate, breathing signals were extracted from unsorted 4D CT images of a motion phantom and 31 cancer patients (17 lung cancers, 14 abdominal cancers) and were compared to those clinically acqui...

BACKGROUND Radix Polygoni Multiflori is the dried root tuber of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. (Fam. Polygonaceae). According to Chinese medicine theory, raw (R-RPM) and processed (P-RPM) Radix Polygoni Multiflori possess different properties. The present study investigates the differences in chemistry between raw and processed Radix Polygoni Multiflori. METHODS Five pairs of R-RPM and P-RPM as...

The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a protein kinase that regulates protein translation, cell growth, and apoptosis. Rapamycin (RPM), a specific inhibitor of mTOR, exhibits potent and broad in vitro and in vivo antitumor activity against leukemia, breast cancer, and melanoma. Recent studies showing that RPM sensitizes cancers to chemotherapy and radiation therapy have attracted consider...

Agile microand nano-fluidic control is critical to numerous life science and chemical science synthesis as well as kinetic and thermodynamic studies. To this end, we have demonstrated the use of thin film transistor arrays as an active matrix addressing method to control an electrofluidic array. Because the active matrix method minimizes the number of control lines necessary (m + n lines for th...

Wearable devices with a wide range of sensors have contributed to the rise of the Quantified Self movement, where individuals log everything ranging from the number of steps they have taken, to their heart rate, to their sleeping patterns. Sensors do not, however, typically sense the social and ambient environment of the users, such as general life style attributes or information about their so...
