The Staphylococcus aureus clonal lineage CC45 is a predominant colonizer of healthy individuals in northern Europe and constitutes a highly basal cluster of the S. aureus population. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of S. aureus strain CA-347 (NRS648), a representative of the methicillin-resistant USA600 clone predominantly found in the United States.

The relation between early salt intake and later hypertension is debated. As part of a larger feeding study, 347 preterm infants were randomly assigned to receive early diets differing grossly in sodium content. Feeding a high sodium preterm formula in the neonatal period did not influence arterial blood pressure at 18 months (corrected) age.

In an acetone solution containing small portions of naphthalene the latter is adsorbed preferentially to poly(methylmethacrylate-co-phenylvinylketone). Evidence for preferential solvation is inferred from intrinsic viscosity data as well as from the halflife of the change of light scattering intensity after fragmentation of the macromolecules by a 25 ns flash of 347 nm light from a ruby laser.

Baylisascaris procyonis roundworms can cause potentially fatal neural larva migrans in many species, including humans. However, the clinical spectrum of baylisascariasis is not completely understood. We tested 347 asymptomatic adult wildlife rehabilitators for B. procyonis antibodies; 24 were positive, suggesting that subclinical baylisascariasis is occurring among this population.
