The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between the metabolic control parameters of diabetes mellitus (glycemia and HbA1c) and visual evoked potentials (VEP) latency values. The study included 61 patients with diabetes mellitus type 1 that were hospitalized at the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases due to the poor metabolic control. All patients were divi...

PURPOSE To compare the Cambridge contrast sensitivity (CS) test and visual evoked potentials (VEP) in detecting visual impairment in a population of visually symptomatic and asymptomatic patients affected by clinically definite multiple sclerosis (MS). METHODS Fifty patients (100 eyes) presenting with MS and 25 healthy subjects (50 eyes) with normal corrected visual acuity were included in th...

Poverty eradication is one of the global challenges, and land transfer provides an effective path to address farmers’ poverty; however, effect poverty reduction can show heterogeneity depending on location, household, head household. This study employs propensity value matching technique compare effects future alleviation among farm households, based vulnerability as expected poverty, using dat...

A method of identifying individuals using visual-evoked-potential (VEP) signals and neural network (NN) is proposed. In the approach, a backpropagation (BP) NN is trained to identify individuals using gamma-band (30-50Hz) spectral power ratio of VEP signals extracted from 61 electrodes located on the scalp of the brain. The gamma-band spectral-power ratio is computed using a zero-phase Butterwo...

The effect of contrast on visual evoked potential (VEP) amplitude was examined in nine observers. A 6.0 cycles/deg (cpd) grating was modulated in an "on-off" mode at 7.5 Hz. The VEP response contains significant first and second harmonic components: their growth with contrast is parallel, each function consisting of two limbs. The data are consistent with the hypothesis that the pattern VEP obt...

A violation of the equivalence principle (VEP) in the Kaon system can, in principle , induce oscillations between K • and K • in a manner that need not violate CPT conservation. We show that such a CPT-conserved VEP mechanism could be clearly tested experimentally through the energy dependence of the K L − K S mass difference and discuss constraints imposed by present experiments.

We introduce a new VEP paradigm the Jitter Spatial Frequency (JSF) Sweep VEP that permits efficient mapping of the spatiotemporal tuning of the developmental motion asymmetry (DMA). Vertical sinewave gratings undergoing 90o horizontal oscillatory displacements (6 or 10 Hz) were presented while their SF was swept over 2 to 5 octaves during each VEP trial. JSF sweep VEPs were recorded from 28 inf...

Cryptococcal induced visual loss is a devastating complication in survivors of cryptococcal meningitis (CM). Early detection is paramount in prevention and treatment. Subclinical optic nerve dysfunction in CM has not hitherto been investigated by electrophysiological means. We undertook a prospective study on 90 HIV sero-positive patients with culture confirmed CM. Seventy-four patients underwe...

PURPOSE The goal of this cross-sectional observational study was to quantify the pattern-shift visual evoked potentials (VEP) and the thickness as well as the volume of retinal layers using optical coherence tomography (OCT) across a cohort of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and age-matched controls. METHODS Forty-three PD patients and 38 controls were enrolled. All participants underwent a...
