possible that contaminants in the preparation may have contributed some of the effects observed. The present study describes the purification of MCR to a homogeneous single component as demonstrated by poly acrylamide gel electrophoresis and NH@-terminaIamino acid analysis and presents preliminary information on the ability of MCR to degrade PM2 DNA in vitro and DNA within Novikoff hepatoma cells.

Transmissible colistin resistance conferred by the mcr-1 gene-bearing IncI2 plasmid has been recently reported in Escherichia coli in the United States. We report here the completed genome sequence of a second E. coli strain isolated from swine in the United States that carried the mcr-1 gene on an IncI2-type plasmid.

A novel concept in available bit rate (ABR) service model as de ned by the ATM Forum is the minimum cell rate (MCR) support for each ABR virtual connection. In this paper, we present a fundamental study of rate allocation policies with MCR guarantee. In particular, we de ne three network bandwidth allocation policies that guarantee MCR requirements. For each policy, we present a centralized alg...

Background The emergence of the plasmid-mediated colistin resistance mechanism in Escherichia coli has raised concern among public health experts as colistin is a last-line antimicrobial resort. The primary aim of the study was to investigate the prevalence of this resistance trait in E. coli isolates circulating in the Lombardy region, Northern Italy. The presence of mcr-type genes and their g...

Background: Currently, colistin-resistant pathogens emerged has become a global health concern. This study assessed the distribution of mcr-1 to mcr-5 variants with phenotypic colistin-resistance in bacterial isolates from urinary tract infection (UTI) patients Bangladesh. Methods: A cross-sectional was conducted between April 2017 and March 2018 enroll uncomplicated UTI patients, 142 urine samp...

This paper presents a Multiple Combined Ranker (MCR) approach for answering definitional questions. Generally, our MCR approach first extracts question target-related knowledge as much as possible, then using this knowledge to pick up appropriate question answers. The knowledge includes both online definitions and related terms (RT). In our system, extraction of related terms is different from ...

Here we report the development of two rapid real-time quantitative PCR assays with TaqMan(®) probes to detect the MCR-1 plasmid-mediated colistin resistance gene from bacterial isolates and faecal samples from chickens. Specificity and sensitivity of the assay were 100% on bacterial isolates including 18 colistin-resistant isolates carrying the mcr-1 gene (six Klebsiella pneumoniae and 12 Esche...

An organism with a single recessive loss-of-function allele will typically have a wild-type phenotype, whereas individuals homozygous for two copies of the allele will display a mutant phenotype. We have developed a method called the mutagenic chain reaction (MCR), which is based on the CRISPR/Cas9 genome-editing system for generating autocatalytic mutations, to produce homozygous loss-of-funct...

A majority of t(14;18) translocations have been shown to cluster at one of two sites on chromosome 18, called the major breakpoint region (mbr) or the minor cluster region, (mcr), which map within or flanking the bcl-2 proto-oncogene, respectively. We have determined the nucleotide sequence for a portion of the mcr, and constructed oligonucleotides that were used to perform the polymerase chain...

Metabolic clearance rates (MCR) of aldosterone, cortisol, 11-deoxycorticosterone (DOC), corticosterone, and progesterone were simultaneously measured by constant infusion in eight control subjects before and during angiotensin II infusion in subpressor (3 ng/min per kg) and pressor (22 ng/min per kg) doses. Plasma levels of aldosterone and cortisol, the heat-labile protein-bound fraction of ald...
