YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 (YBCO) exhibits a large anisotropy between the a and b axes in the CuO 2 planes because of the presence of CuO chains. In order to account for such an anisotropy we develop a Ginzburg-Landau (GL) theory for an anisotropic d-wave superconductor in an external magnetic field, based on an anisotropic effective mass approximation within CuO 2 planes. The anisotropic parameter λ = m x...
We describe one of the remarkable problems of theoretical physics persevering up to the beginning of the millennium. All gauge theories with spontaneous gauge symmetry breaking from the standard model of particle physics with the electroweak symmetry breaking at the Fermi scale, 246 GeV, up to strings, supergravity, and the M(embrane)-theory superunification with symmetry breaking starting near...
The cascading gauge theory of Klebanov et.al realizes a soluble example of gauge/string correspondence in a non-conformal setting. Such a gauge theory has a strong coupling scale Λ, below which it confines with a chiral symmetry breaking. A holographic description of a strongly coupled cascading gauge theory plasma is represented by a black brane solution of type IIB supergravity on a conifold ...
We consider the following nonlinear field equation with super critical growth: (*) −∆u + λu = Q(y)u N +2 N −2 , u > 0 in R N +m , u(y) → 0 as |y| → +∞, where m ≥ 1, λ ≥ 0 and Q(y) is a bounded positive function. We show that equation (*) has infinitely many positive solutions under certain symmetry conditions on Q(y).
This paper investigates the symmetry breaking between polarizations of Λ and Λ¯ hyperons in relativistic collisions heavy ions at intermediate low energies. It is shown that the baryon magnetic moment descriptions in the frameworks of the chiral model ChPT and the quark soliton χQSM one are practically identical. The main difference from the traditional unitary symmetry models proves to be in terms due to the pionic current contribution into the magnetic moments of nucleons and in the prediction for the Λ magnetic moment.
We study the consequence of chiral SU(3) symmetry in the kaon-nucleon phe-nomenology, by deriving the effective single-channel ¯ KN potential. It turns out that the πΣ interaction is strongly attractive and plays an important role for the structure of the Λ(1405) resonance. We discuss the implication of effective potential for the few-body kaonic nuclei.
Allyl phenyl ether has an absorption band in the ultraviolet region (λ < 400 nm); therefore, irradiation with few-optical-cycle ultraviolet pulses (λ = 360-440 nm) causes a transition to the ultraviolet band, which leads to an electronic state and a photo-Claisen rearrangement (radical reaction) in the electronic excited state. However, the reaction scheme of allyl phenyl ether under irradiatio...
We introduce a nonlocal transformation to generate exact solutions of the constant astigmatism equation zyy + (1/z)xx + 2 = 0. The transformation is related to the special case of the famous Bäcklund transformation of the sine-Gordon equation with the Bäcklund parameter λ = ±1. It is also a nonlocal symmetry.
