A classical result in graph theory asserts that every graph can be oriented so that the indegree and outdegree of each vertex differ by at most 1. We study the extent to which the result generalizes to uniform hypergraphs.

We find the asymptotic number of 2-orientations of quadrangulations with n inner faces, and of 3orientations of triangulations with n inner vertices. We also find the asymptotic number of prime 2-orientations (no separating quadrangle) and prime 3-orientations (no separating triangle). The estimates we find are of the form c ·n−αγn, for suitable constants c, α, γ, with α = 4 for 2-orientations ...

st-orientations (st-numberings) or bipolar orientations of undirected graphs are central to many graph algorithms and applications. Several algorithms have been proposed in the past to compute an st-orientation of a biconnected graph. However, as indicated in [1], the computation of more than one st-orientation is very important for many applications in multiple research areas, such as this of ...

While much attention has been paid to the orientations and structures of the habit planes of various precipitates, the orientations and structures of the edge facets are less well understood. This work presents a new approach to the interpretation of edge facets. The orientations and dislocation structures of the edge facets of a precipitates in a b matrix in a Ti–7.26 wt.% Cr alloy were invest...

Due to the highly anisotropic behavior of silicon bulk etching, there have been many publications on etch simulation and convex corner compensation for specific geometries. Our previous work introduced a general framework for algorithmically synthesizing mask layouts for wet etching. This paper extends that work to broader classes of corner compensation and demonstrates the encoding of a specif...

Constrained spherical deconvolution (CSD) is a new technique that, based on high-angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI) MR data, estimates the orientation of multiple intravoxel fiber populations within regions of complex white matter architecture, thereby overcoming the limitations of the widely used diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) technique. One of its main applications is fiber tractogr...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between gameplay enjoyment, gaming goal orientations, and individual characteristics. A total of 301 participants were surveyed and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. This led to an expanded Gameplay Enjoyment Model (GEM) with 41 game design features that influence player enjoyment. Furthermore, a 3x2 Gaming ...
