Baltic Seaports are a part of the sustainable global transport infrastructure. The main competitors countries in Sea region ports Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. all three States important transit corridors, connecting not only East West, but also South North. Periodical investments, modernization, construction new terminals allow Port Klaipeda to successfully compete with neighbouring strive f...

In this study, we tested the corridor illusion in three chimpanzees and five humans, applying a relative size discrimination task to assess pictorial depth perception using linear perspective. The subjects were required to choose the physically larger cylinder of two on a background containing drawn linear perspective cues. We manipulated both background and cylinder size in each trial. Our fin...

Octopuses will make detours in order to reach prey that is not directly accessible to them. Using the apparatus shown in Fig. 1 Wells (1964) trained octopuses to make detours to reach crabs shown in the feeding compartments flanking the central corridor. Eight out of twenty-nine animals tested completed detours successfully on entering the corridor for the first time at their first trial. The r...

To achieve autonomous indoor mobile robot navigation, the robot needs to identify the direction, obstacle position and other information. This paper describes a solution for indoor mobile robot navigation and obstacle distance detection which based on monocular vision. We use Hough transform to find the straight lines in the corridor environment which were used to find the vanishing point as th...

A driver-yielding enforcement program that included decoy pedestrians, feedback flyers, written and verbal warnings, and saturation enforcement for a 2-week period was evaluated in the city of Miami Beach using a multiple baseline design. During baseline, data were collected at crosswalks along two major corridors. Treatment was introduced first at selected crosswalks without traffic signals al...

In this paper we present a new approach to robust 3D rigid body motion estimation and scene structure recovery using an epipolar corridor. In comparison to traditional two stage approaches we do not rely on independent establishment of feature point correspondences and subsequent computation of 3D motion parameters, but iteratively feed the motion parameters back to the point correspondence est...

As one of the leading method of electric wheelchairs, platoon driving using Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) has been proposed to keep constant time-headway. The platoon driving system has been widely used assuming straight roads that has good visibility, but has not been used in narrow corridor. While, the gross weight of wheelchair changes drastically depending on passenger’s weight. In this pap...

The objective of this study was to identify measures appropriate to estimate travel time reliability and apply them to study the reliability of travel time under varying freeway operating conditions. More specifically, a case study was undertaken to study travel time reliability along the I-65 corridor in the State of Alabama. The objectives of this study were to: a) Calculate reliability metri...

In this paper it is shown that simple, low-level motion cues, inspired by the visual navigation of flying insects, can be used to provide a mobile robot with the ability to traverse various corridor environments. Distances to the walls of the corridor and to potential obstacles are measured using the apparent angular velocity of patches in the image and the known motion of the robot.
