Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is a relatively new imaging technology that is being adopted widely for breast cancer screening. Initial evidence suggests that it may reduce recall rates and increase cancer detection rates when added to digital mammography screening. However, more rigorous, prospective studies are needed to determine whether it improves long-term clinical outcomes of breast ...

Computed laminography (CL) is an alternative to computed tomography if large objects are to be inspected with high resolution. This is especially true for planar objects. Algebraic reconstruction technique (ART) enhance the quality of laminographic images and permits scanning geometries which cannot be reconstructed by conventional tomosynthesis. Thus ART expands the capabilities of 3D inspecti...

Radiography is the most common imaging method for assessing the progress of fracture healing. However, accurate assessment may be confounded by fracture complexity in which a combination of anatomic overlay and hypertrophic callous can be visually misleading. We present just such an instance in which delayed fracture healing was further elucidated using tomosynthesis.

Most breast imaging programs have replaced film-screen mammography systems with digital mammography. Other breast imaging methods, such as digital breast tomosynthesis, complement the tools available for screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. This article examines digital mammography, other digital breast imaging modalities, and the effects of these technologies on practice, quality, efficie...

DBT is a three-dimensional (3D) breast imaging technology that uses a rotating X-ray source to acquire multiple image slices at several angles. The X-ray source rotates around the breast in an arc. Serial exposures are taken every few degrees in the arc rotation. These images are then reconstituted by software to produce a 3Dimage of the breast, similar to CAT scanning. It has been suggested th...

Introduction The placement of intramammary marker clips has proven to be helpful for tumor localization in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy and breast-conserving surgery. The purpose of our study was to investigate the feasibility of using a clip marker system for breast cancer localization and its influence on the imaging assessment of treatment responses after neoadjuvant chemothe...

BACKGROUND Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is an emerging imaging modality which produces three-dimensional radiographic images of breast. DBT reconstructs tomographic images from a limited view angle, thus data acquired from DBT is not sufficient enough to reconstruct an exact image. It was proven that a sparse image from a highly undersampled data can be reconstructed via compressed sensin...
