A symmetry breaking spin transition in a Mn(III) complex is reported with three structural phases, a high symmetry high temperature S = 2 phase, an intermediate S = 1/S = 2 ordered phase and an aperiodic low temperature phase with S = 1 cations. The aperiodicity is interpreted as resulting from long-range ordering of the NTf2(-) anions.
The continuous symmetry methodology has been developed to provide a quantitative estimation for the degree of a selected symmetry point-group in a molecular structure. Previous developed measures included the C(S), C(n), S(n) (including C(i)) symmetries, several polyhedral symmetries, and the related chirality measure. Motivated by the abundance and importance of C(nv) symmetry in many key mole...
in this study, the quaternary deformation and tectonic activity of saeedabad-chai drainage basin, are assessed using geomorphic approach. this drainage basin is located in northern slope of sahand mountain. north tabriz fault (ntf), is passing from the saeedabad-chai basin. variation in the morphology of mountain front provied the basis for geomorphic assessment of tectonic activity. therefore,...
Given a convex body S ⊂ IRn and a point x ∈ S, let sym(x, S) denote the symmetry value of x in S: sym(x, S) := max{α ≥ 0 : x + α(x− y) ∈ S for every y ∈ S} , which essentially measures how symmetric S is about the point x, and define sym(S) := max x∈S sym(x, S) . We call x∗ a symmetry point of S if x∗ achieves the above supremum. These symmetry measures are all invariant under invertible affine...
OBJECTIVE To test the 'Liverpool Osteoarthritis in Dogs' (LOAD) questionnaire for construct and criterion validity, and to similarly test the Helsinki Chronic Pain Index (HCPI) and the Canine Brief Pain Inventory (CBPI). DESIGN Prospective Study. ANIMALS 222 dogs with osteoarthritis. PROCEDURE Osteoarthritis was diagnosed in a cohort of dogs on the basis of clinical history and orthopedic...
This paper presents a fast and novel algorithm for both radial and bilateral symmetry detection based on inverted gradient hash maps (IGHMs). A hash map is an associative array that stores image gradient magnitudes and orientations in the form of an inverted index. This mapping of image gradients to their locations permits points of interest to be located very rapidly without needing to search ...
