In this paper, we introduce an iterative scheme Ishikawa-type for finding a common element of the set EP (G) of the equilibrium points of a bifunction G and the set Fix(T ) of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping T in a Hilbert space H. We prove that the method converges strongly to an element z ∈ Fix(T ) T EP (G) which is the unique solution of the variational inequality 〈(A− γf)z, x− z〉 ≥ 0...

Four XMM-Newton observations of the core of M 31, spaced at 6 month intervals, show that the brightest point X-ray source, RX J0042.6+4115, has a 0.4–10 keV luminosity of ∼5× 1038 erg s−1, and exhibits significant variability in intensity and X-ray spectrum over a time scale of ∼100 s including hard flares; such behaviour is only observed in Z-sources and transient black hole binaries in our Ga...

For analytic functions f(z) in the open unit disk U with f(0) = 0 and f ′(0) = 1, S. S. Miller, P. T. Mocanu and M. O. Reade (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 37(1973)) have introduced α-convex functions in U with some condition, and Z. Lewandowski, S. S. Miller and E. Zl /otkiewicz (Ann. Univ. Marie-Curie Skl /odowska 27(1974)) have discussed γ-starlike functions in U with some condition. The object of ...

We discuss a parity nonconserving asymmetry in the cross section of KLL dielectronic recombination of polarized electrons on the hydrogen-like ions with Z ∼ 60. This effect is strongly enhanced because of the near-degeneracy of doubly-excited 2l2l states of opposite parity in He-like ions. For ions with Z ∼ 30 the asymmetry is of the order of 10. For Z ≈ 48 a level crossing takes place, leading...

Abstract In this Note we consider a quadratic backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) driven by a continuous martingale M and whose generator is a deterministic function. We prove (in Theorem 2.1) that if M is a strong homogeneous Markov process and if the BSDE has the form (1.2) then the unique solution (Y, Z,N) of the BSDE is reduced to (Y, Z), i.e. the orthogonal martingale N is equ...

Four XMM-Newton observations of the core of M31, spaced at 6 month intervals, show that the brightest point X-ray source, RXJ0042.6+4115, has a 0.4–10 keV luminosity of ∼5 10 erg s−1, and exhibits significant variability in intensity and X-ray spectrum over a time scale of ∼100 s including hard flares; such behaviour is only observed in Z-sources and transient black hole binaries in our Galaxy....

If ∗ : G → G is an involution on the finite group G, then ∗ extends to an involution on the integral group ring Z[G]. In this paper, we consider whether bicyclic units u ∈ Z[G] exist with the property that the group 〈u, u∗〉, generated by u and u∗, is free on the two generators. If this occurs, we say that (u, u∗) is a free bicyclic pair. It turns out that the existence of u depends strongly upo...

This article deals with the two-group classification problem, where the class conditional probability π(z) = P{Y = 1 | Z = z} belongs to a known class of functions F which is totally bounded with respect to the supremum norm. Given an -cover F of F , we consider kernel regression methods for constructing classifiers using members of F . A Horvitz-Thompsontype inverse weighting approach will be ...

Using a Newtonian approximation we developed a quantitative criterion for the collapse of a spherical distribution of matter under an isolated texture field. In particular, we found the evolution of an overdense region is strongly determined by two parameters: the energy scale of symmetry breaking (η) and the initial radius of the system. Applying our collapse criterion to typical galaxy scales...

We update the constraints on anomalous dimension four t-b-W and t-t-Z couplings by using CLEO b → sγ and LEP/SLC precision Z-pole data. It is found that the data imposes very stringent bounds on them. Moreover, the 2σ pull from SM predictions of ALR(hadrons), Ab and AFB(b) have little chance of being explained by the strongly constrained anomalous couplings.
